    About the Organization

    The Carpenter’s Boat Shop is a nonprofit educational community dedicated to fostering personal growth through wooden boatbuilding, shared community life, seamanship, and service. Founded in 1979, the Boat Shop offers a nine-month, tuition-free apprenticeship and public-facing programs that connect craft, learning, and community on Maine’s Pemaquid Peninsula.

    The Opportunity

    The Carpenter’s Boat Shop seeks a mission-driven Executive Director to lead the organization’s people, programs, and partnerships. Working in close collaboration with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director advances the Boat Shop’s mission, guides strategic direction, cultivates donor and community relationships, and supports a committed team of staff and volunteers.

    This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who values experiential learning, community life, and mission-centered leadership.

    Key Responsibilities (Snapshot)

    • Provide organizational leadership and staff support
    • Lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts
    • Oversee financial health and operational systems
    • Strengthen partnerships and public presence

    Compensation

    Full-time, year-round position based in Pemaquid, Maine.

    On-site housing and benefits included.
