About the Role
Reporting to the Safer States Policy Director, the Policy and Organizing Manager will work closely with Safer States and Toxic-Free Future staff, state-based allies, and other stakeholders to reduce the use and health impacts of toxic chemicals and plastics, advance the adoption of safer solutions and hold polluters accountable. This role blends policy development, organizing, alliance coordination and research and requires excellence in partnership building.

This is a full or part-time role that includes generous benefits including employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, a monthly wellness benefit, a flexible spending account, and paid vacation and holidays. Benefits may be prorated for less than full-time work. The starting salary for this position is $90,000 to $98,000, depending on experience. If part-time, pay will be prorated.

Safer States is a national alliance of environmental health organizations and coalitions working to safeguard people and the planet from toxic chemicals and plastics. We aim to phase out harmful chemicals and plastics, expand availability and access to safer solutions and protect communities from chemical pollution, especially associated with consumer products. Led by state-based organizations, the alliance seeks government and corporate action and has helped advance hundreds of policies that reduce harmful chemical and plastic use and exposure.
Safer States is a fiscally sponsored program of Toxic-Free Future and is governed by a Steering Committee of representatives from seven states (currently Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, and Washington).
