    OVERVIEW OF POSITION

    The Solidarity Network Organizer will help support and advance WeCount!’s Planting Justice campaign by recruiting, engaging, and mobilizing a strong network of allies and volunteers in Florida and across the United States to take action in solidarity with plant nursery workers who are organizing for fair wages and benefits, safe working conditions, and respect and dignity in their jobs and lives. This position will require occasional travel and will report directly to the Co-Executive Directors.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Recruiting, engaging, and mobilizing a network of allies for Planting Justice in Florida and across the country, including consumers, students, community and faith allies, and relevant organizations, institutions, and networks.
    • Coordinating online and in-person meetings, activities, and actions with allies that advance the worker-driven strategy and objectives of Planting Justice.
    • Educating allies on Planting Justice in meetings, conferences, and events, including coordinating the participation and testimonies of worker leaders.
    • Managing WeCount!’s Solidarity Membership Program, including the year-round recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of solidarity members.
    • Participating in relevant training and skills-building programs to develop and enhance capacities in strategic campaigning, including completing readings and assignments and attending workshops, conferences, and convenings.
    • Recruiting and coordinating volunteers and interns to support Planting Justice, including fielding requests, conducting interviews, and assigning tasks.
    • Developing and implementing digital strategies and tools that increase public attention and mobilize the support of allies for Planting Justice.
    • Maintaining and updating a database of allies for Planting Justice across WeCount!’s data management and mass communication platforms.
    • Collaborating with Planting Justice staff to advance any other campaign duties or needs, including research, communications, and grassroots fundraising.
    • Attending campaign meetings, events, and actions as needed or requested.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Commitment to WeCount!’s mission, vision, and worker-driven model.
    • Dedication to building the power and leadership of immigrant workers.
    • Previous experience in solidarity-based organizing and advocacy (e.g., labor, environmental, or social justice campaigns) preferred, but not required.
    • Highly organized, a strong work ethic, and the capacity to effectively manage multiple projects in a rigorous, detail-oriented, and timely manner.
    • Basic skills and capacities with social media and digital communication.
    • Strong verbal communication, advocacy, and relationship building skills.
    • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings or weekends.
    • Willingness to travel within Florida and across the country as needed.
    • Bilingual preferred but not required (English with Spanish/Haitian Creole).

    Benefits

    COMPENSATION

    This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary of $60,000 USD and a generous benefits package, including 100% employer-covered health, vision, and dental insurance and 401(K) retirement match contributions. We provide 15 days of paid vacation time every year in addition to generous paid holidays and personal and sick leave. Additionally, we close down for the last 2 weeks of December, which provides all staff members with an additional paid vacation break. All staff members receive a $50 per month cell phone stipend and an annual budget of $2,000 to pursue approved professional development opportunities.
