    Position Summary

    The Data Manager manages the successful design, implementation, and maintenance of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database system and related tools, reports, and dashboards that measure program performance and progress toward outcome indicators. As the organization’s primary CRM system owner and administrator, the Data Manager is responsible for maintaining system integrity, security, configuration, performance, and scalability in a complex, multi-program nonprofit environment. This role improves the system for staff usability, ensures it is client and donor-centric, and serves as an ambassador to staff on training and messaging around the system. The Data Manager supports training and coaching staff in system navigation and in becoming equipped with using relevant program data to make decisions about program delivery and improvements in program quality.

    The Data Manager will supervise one Data staff member.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    General (85%)

      1. Manages, customizes, and maintains Catalyst CT’s CRM system, Salesforce, either directly or through the management of an external vendor. Acts as the primary System Administrator.
      2. Manages access and system security.
      3. Configures and maintains objects, fields, page layouts, flows, and automation.
      4. Monitors system health proactively.
      5. Leads system upgrades, releases, testing, and change management.
      6. Leads technical migration to new Salesforce platforms, including Nonprofit Cloud.
    1. Designs systems for distributing, standardizing, and integrating data entry, reporting, and analysis across the organization.
    2. Designs scalable solutions that balance program flexibility with data integrity.
    3. Leads the long-term Salesforce roadmap development.
    4. Provides technical support to Catalyst CT users to build the data capacity and functioning of Catalyst CT staff, and as an organization.
      1. Generates and analyzes reports that provide insights into programming and fundraising performance. Collaborates with teams to create custom reports and dashboards.
      2. Co-develops policies for data governance.
      3. Supports the leadership team in leveraging data to inform strategic decision-making and improvements in operational effectiveness.
    5. Cultivates and stewards a data-informed culture at all levels of the organization.

    Staff Management (10%)

    1. Provides training, direction, and guidance to one Data staff member.

    Professional Development (5%)

    1. Self-trains and upskills through online programs and professional training to improve role effectiveness

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Skills and Experience

    • 2-4 years’ experience administering and customizing Salesforce or other CRM systems.
    • Bachelor’s degree or an additional 4 years of social service, data management, and/or system administrator experience.
    • Robust understanding of data management best practices.
    • Technical systems expertise.
    • Experience with application integrations into and data migration in Salesforce or CRm systems.
    • Experience with data visualization.
    • Data Analysis and Excel skills.
    • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization preferred.
    • Certified Salesforce Administrator preferred.
