    Who We Are

    My Eden Voice (MEV) is a grassroots, membership-based, organization founded in 2018 to build community power and collective action in the urban unincorporated communities of Alameda County. We advocate for racial, housing, economic, language, and environmental justice—and we put equity at the center of everything we do. Our collaborative campaigns and strategic policy work help shift the narrative from historical disinvestment to municipal responsibility and civic power.

    MEV is fiscally sponsored by In-Advance, a movement center that nurtures community-rooted campaigns advancing racial and economic justice.

    Mission: My Eden Voice builds community power to win campaigns that advance racial, housing, economic, language, and environmental justice for the urban unincorporated Alameda County communities. We develop leaders and strengthen relationships among residents to hold government officials accountable and advocate for policy changes that push for equity.

    The Role

    My Eden Voice seeks a grounded, relational, and strategic leader to join our shared leadership team as the Co-Director of Program & Organizing Strategy. This position partners closely with the Co-Director of Organization Development and Strategy to steward My Eden Voice’s mission, vision, and people.

    Together, the Co-Directors model collaborative leadership that balances bold organizing with sustainable internal systems.

    This role centers community organizing, leadership development, and program impact. The Co-Director of Organizing and Program Strategy will guide MEV’s field strategy, campaigns, and member engagement ensuring our work is community-rooted, data-informed, and aligned with long-term structural change goals.

    A successful candidate will have deep experience in community organizing, campaign design, and leadership development; strong project management and accountability skills; and a commitment to the collective care and growth of staff and members.

    About My Eden Voice

    My Eden Voice is a grassroots organization formed in 2018 to build power and collective action in the unincorporated communities of Alameda County. We advocate for racial and economic justice and intentionally place equity at the center of our work. Our community-driven approach has helped shift the narrative about the unincorporated areas from one of historical disinvestment to one of municipal responsibility and civic power.

    MEV is fiscally sponsored by In-Advance, a movement center for organizing to advance racial and economic justice in a globalized world. Our work is supported by a coalition of nonprofit organizations, resident leaders, local government partners, and funders committed to advancing equity and strengthening civic voice in the Eden Area.

    Core Responsibilities

    Shared Responsibilities with the Co-Director of Organization Development and Strategy

    • Co-own My Eden Voice’s vision and annual priorities; translate strategy into clear goals, OKRs, and timelines.
    • Lead organization-wide priority-setting and action planning that connects community campaigns, policy, and operations.
    • Partner on storytelling and communications to amplify campaigns, share wins, and provide timely field insights for fundraising and reports.
    • Represent MEV publicly and cultivate relationships with partners, funders, elected officials, and stakeholders.
    • Model shared leadership, clear communication, and collaborative decision-making with staff, Board, and community members.

    Responsibilities of the Co-Director of Organizing and Program Strategy

    • Direct Program & Campaign Strategy: Coaches and develops organizing staff to plan and execute relational organizing initiatives and community organizing campaigns. Partners with organizers to develop and refine strategies, including goal setting, power analysis, and theory of change.
    • Lead and develop a team of organizers through regular coaching, performance management, and strategic guidance; ensure clear workplans, field metrics, and high-quality member experiences while identifying areas of professional development.
    • Standardize Organizing Pipeline: Facilitate and lead membership meetings. Develop and support strategies to develop general membership leadership.
    • Leadership Sustainability: Developleadership pipelines of organizers and leaders, ensuring objectives and capacity align; create systems to monitor organizer sustainability.
    • Performance & Learning: Oversee organization-wide MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) systems and ensure they align with fundraising goals and metrics. Maintain dashboards, evaluation cycles, and continuous improvementpractices.
    • Data & Impact: Track program outcomes and member feedback, using data to refine strategies and share impact stories with staff, the Board, and the community.
    • Coalition Building: Coordinate multi-organizational campaigns; convenepartners, clarify roles, and align advocacy strategies at the local and regional level.
    • Policy & Advocacy: Identify and advancepolicy research and advocacy opportunities that align with MEV’s mission, community input, and racial justice lens.
    • Collaboration Infrastructure: Help build systems and practices — meeting structures, planning tools, and communication workflows — that support coordination and accountability.

    Qualifications & Skill Set

    • Deep commitment to racial, economic,and language justice.Shared lived experience and cultural competency with MEV’s members.
    • At least5 years of experience in grassroots organizing, leadership development, campaign strategy, or community-driven advocacy. Experience in cultural organizing a plus.
    • Strong background in supervising teams, facilitating collaborative processes, and creating systems for accountability and follow-through.
    • Proven ability to assess options,develop creative solutions, and turn strategyinto action grounded in community input.
    • Experience leading or participating in diverse, high-impact coalitions and policy tables.
    • Understandingof MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) or similar performance systems preferred.
    • Experience working with low-income, immigrant, Black, Latinx, and Asian communities; familiarity with unincorporated Alameda County is strongly preferred.
    • Commitment to fosteringstaff sustainability throughclarity, care, and consistent management practices.
    • We welcome non-traditional education backgrounds.
    • Proficiency in GoogleWorkspace and digitalorganizing or projectmanagement tools (e.g., Asana, Airtable, or similar).

    The Co-Director Model

    At My Eden Voice, leadership is shared between two Co-Directors:

    • Leadership at MEV is shared between the two co-directors with defined leadership responsibilities.
    • It is the responsibility of the co-directors to communicate proactively to ensure accountability and success.

    Together, they co-own vision, culture, and accountability, ensuring MEV remains grounded in its values while building the infrastructure for long-term power and care.

    Work Environment

    A combination of time spent in a sedentary office environment with time spent on site in unincorporated Alameda County

    Travel Requirements

    The responsibilities of this position will require occasional travel to off-site locations around the San Francisco Bay Area.

    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak and hear. Requires frequent use of a keyboard, computer monitor and phone. Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift up to twenty (20) pounds occasionally.
