    Location: Remote (U.S.-based)

    Just Futures Law is a movement law organization that defends and builds the power of immigrant rights and criminal justice activists, organizers, and community groups. Our mission is to prevent the surveillance, criminalization, and deportation of immigrants and people of color in the United States.

    Founded in 2019, our work is grounded in a movement lawyering and racial justice framework. We are a growing, remote-based team of ten with a fast-paced, collaborative, and values-driven culture. Our staff are located across CA, DC, GA, IL, MA, MO, NC, NY OR, and WV. Occasional travel is required.

    Position Overview

    Just Futures Law seeks an experienced, committed litigator to lead and support strategic legal challenges against repressive immigration policies, surveillance practices, and the erosion of First Amendment rights. This is an exciting opportunity for immigration and civil rights litigators who are passionate about supporting grassroots movements and directly impacted communities.

    We are hiring for an experienced Senior Litigator, with a minimum of 5 years of litigation experience, with some immigration law expertise, responsible for leading cases and contributing to strategy, without program management responsibilities. This is a full-time, remote, exempt position reporting to the Legal Director.

    Key Responsibilities

    Senior Litigator

    • Lead individual cases and contribute to broader litigation strategy.
    • Conduct hearings and appeals.
    • Collaborate across legal, policy, and communications teams.
    • Provide guidance to junior staff; may supervise law interns.
    • Lead/support all phases of impact litigation in federal and state courts related to immigrant rights, civil liberties, First Amendment protections, and privacy rights.
    • Conduct factual record development; conduct legal research and analysis; identify plaintiffs; draft pleadings, briefs, and motions; handle discovery.
    • Work collaboratively with internal staff and external partners to align litigation with organizing, policy advocacy, and media strategies.
    • Build and maintain relationships with grassroots organizations and community groups to identify emerging legal issues and support their advocacy goals.
    • Provide technical legal support, strategic guidance, and collaboration to movement partners.
    • Represent Just Futures Law publicly in media interviews, panel discussions, conferences, and community meetings.
    • Participate in organizational development, team planning, and internal initiatives.
    • May provide guidance to interns.
    • Travel occasionally for litigation, retreats, conferences, and public speaking engagements.

    Required Qualifications

    Senior Litigator

    • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience, with 8 years of law-related practice preferred.
    • Experience with federal court practice.
    • Expertise in immigration law
    • Substantial experience handling complex civil litigation independently.
    • J.D. degree and active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction.
    • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in high-pressure environments.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with plaintiff-side constitutional or civil rights litigation.
    • Demonstrated success working in partnership with grassroots organizations or community-based coalitions.
    • Project management skills and ability to coordinate across teams and networks.
    • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Senior Litigator (Tier 4): $100,000 – $115,000

    All salaries are aligned with Just Futures Law’s Compensation Equity Guidelines.
