    Senior Director of Development

Location: New York City preferred (regular travel required)

The Kabbalah Centre is seeking a seasoned development leader to build, run, and scale our global fundraising and donor stewardship system. This is a senior role for someone who leads with clarity, calm authority, and strong relationship instincts.

    The Mandate

    1. Build and Lead the Development Function

Oversee all major gifts, donor care, and departmental operations. Set priorities, create rhythm, lead the team, and ensure cohesion across global centres. Bring discipline and structure to a fast-moving environment.

    1. Steward Top Donor Relationships

Develop and manage relationships with major donors. Represent the Centre with professionalism, warmth, and confidence. Ensure donors feel seen, engaged, and guided.

    1. Drive Revenue and Make the Ask

Comfortably solicit six-figure gifts. Understand tax-efficient giving strategies, including stock and legacy gifts. Own revenue generation directly.

    1. Elevate Teacher Fundraising

Support teachers in their role within the fundraising ecosystem. Strengthen their confidence, provide structure, and help them thrive without pressure or threat. Requires cultural fluency, humility, and emotional intelligence.

    1. Turn Leadership Vision into Execution

Translate Co-Director's direction into clear programs, timelines, and outcomes. Secure alignment, navigate shifting conditions, and maintain momentum.

    What You Bring

    • Senior-level experience in major gifts or development leadership
    • Comfort with high-net-worth donors and significant asks
    • Strong operational discipline and systems thinking
    • Ability to lead calmly through complexity and ambiguity
    • High trust-building instincts across diverse teams and personalities
    • Emotional intelligence and comfort navigating strong perspectives

Experience in Jewish philanthropy or familiarity with Jewish giving culture is a significant advantage.

    Who Thrives in This Role

    This role fits someone who:

    • Enjoys both strategy and hands-on execution
    • Leads with clarity and steadiness
    • Is energized by relationship-building and major gifts
    • Is comfortable holding responsibility for outcomes
    • Values mission, alignment, and collaboration with spiritual leadership
