    Company Manager

    The State Theater of Maryland, Baltimore Center Stage (BCS) is fresh from a transformational 2024/2025 season including world class theater productions and newly launched community programs serving Baltimore artists, the civic life of our region, and young people facing incarceration.     The Company Manager serves as a member of the producing team and is responsible for managing the travel, housing, communications, and overall hospitality for visiting artists. This role also supports the administrative functions within the producing department at Baltimore Center Stage. This is a full-time, position with benefits and onsite housing provided.

    Requirements: Previous experience in Company Management is strongly preferred. Candidates with at least 2+ years of experience in artist relations, customer service, stage management, or other management roles will also be considered. The Company Manager must possess a high tolerance for stress and the ability to respond confidently and calmly to unexpected situations or emergencies.

    The ideal Company Manager will demonstrate:

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate Artist Housing: Oversee all aspects of artist accommodations, including preparing welcome gifts, organizing, disturbing and collection keys/fobs, cleaning and preparing room for arrivals and departures, scheduling cleanings and linen deliveries, maintaining inventory, tracking housing and parking usage, and greeting artists upon arrival.
    • Serve as Primary Point of Contact: Providing around the clock care for all guest artists, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience throughout their engagement.
    • Manage Reimbursements: Submit and track reimbursement requests for guest artists in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Maintain Facilities: Submit and follow up on facility requests for artist housing, ensure housing facilities are kept clean, maintained, and compliant with health and fire code standards, and replace or restock broken, missing, or consumed inventory as needed.
    • Support Technical Rehearsals: Purchase, set up, and break down “tech snacks” and refreshments for artists and production teams during technical rehearsals.
    • Coordinate Transportation: Arrange artist transportation, including out-of-town travel and local logistics such as parking, appointment transportation, and weekly shopping trips.
    • Support Producing team: provide exceptional care to artists in compliance with all union agreements and in alignment with BCS values.

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

    • Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to drive a 10-seat passenger van.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. This position requires the navigation of multiple flights of stairs in BCS’s housing facilities.
    • General knowledge of theater terms and practices, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Forms.

    A successful candidate will be a self-starter, can work well with minimal supervision, have the ability to problem solve independently, and love to laugh and indulge in various shenanigans with the BCS Producing team.
