    Management Associate

    Position Description

    Reporting to the executive director, the Management Associate is a junior management level position responsible for supporting the organization’s development and special event efforts as well as managing its communication & marketing activities. It also provides administrative, programmatic, and operational support, and may help to pilot new initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    Fundraising

    • Coordinate and support the organization’s annual fundraising activities
    • Liaise with and cultivate potential donors
    • Track prospect and donor information
    • Maintain and update related data base
    • Prepare for donor/funder meetings with required research
    • Track and classify donations

    Communications & Marketing

    • Manage organization web site, social media, traditional media, and newsletters
    • Gather, organize, and present contents for media update
    • Author and translate press releases and media advisory
    • Represent CMP in occasional community and public activities

    Event planning

    • Assist/lead in organizing, coordinating, and implementing special events including: fundraisers, cultivation opportunities, press conferences, promotion/marketing events, etc.
    • Collaborate with program staff in organizing specific outreach and program related events

    Operational & Management Support

    • Coordinate volunteer and internship activities
    • Develop volunteer opportunities and cultivate volunteer involvement
    • Support leadership staff in exploring/seeking new opportunities and piloting new initiatives
    • Provide support in Board and Committee processes including taking meeting minutes
    • Provide support in direct client contacts and other program service activities
    • Identify and potentially responsible for or support startup/pilot initiatives
    • May supervise program interns, summer workers, or volunteers
    • Some departmental/program/project budget planning

    Other duties as assigned

    Candidate Qualifications

    Minimum Requirement

    • Minimum a bachelor’s degree
    • Computer proficient, minimally with Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn new software applications and online tools
    • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English and Chinese Mandarin (Additional ability to understand and speak Cantonese preferred)
    • Must be an independent self-starter who is creative, curious, inquisitive, and a resourceful problem solver
    • Must be proficient in use of mainstream social media.Proven ability to use Asian ethnic oriented social media a plus
    • Excellent verbal communications skills and demonstrated writing and editing skills
    • Full-time on-site work schedule
    • Flexible work schedule with some evening and occasional weekend hours

    Preferred Skills

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure systematic stewardship of donors/funders and follow through on projects
    • Basic track record in producing persuasive written materials and successful in-person solicitations
    • Graphic design skills and/or photography skills a plus
    • Vibrant, dynamic personality with energy and passion in CMP’s mission area and target community

    Soft Skills

    • Proactive work style with ability to initiate a conversation and quickly assess as well as identify key talking points
    • Strong organizational, analytical, creative, and interpersonal abilities
    • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, set and meet deadlines and manage strict timelines
    • Eagerness to learn about nonprofit management and operations

    Compensation

    • $38,000 - $45,000 per annum depending on experience

    Level of Language Proficiency
