    Who We Are:

    Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) is a nonprofit organization based in Brooklyn, dedicated to addressing the complex challenges of mental illness, substance abuse, and other social issues. Since its founding in 1982, CCM has provided culturally sensitive mental health, supportive housing, and educational services to over 25,000 individuals annually across Brooklyn and Manhattan. Through a wide range of programs, CCM strives to improve the lives of vulnerable populations, fostering stability and well-being in underserved communities.

    Position Overview: This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer/Chief External Relations Officer. The Development Director will understand current funding and licensing requirements for CCM’s programs, and lead strategic activities related to procurement of funding, including government and foundation grants. The Director will also be responsible for preparing required reporting to all funding sources.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Identifies, applies for, and stewards a portfolio of government and foundation grants/contracts.
    • Identifies funding opportunities that align with CCM’s plans for program growth.
    • Understands funding solicitation requirements, translates to actionable items, and works with team members to establish timelines and responsibilities.
    • Collaborates with leadership to understand the trajectory of CCM and devises program plans aligned with CCM’s strategic direction.
      • Creates program timelines to ensure on-time achievement of all project milestones.
      • Prepares and completes on-time proposal submissions to government and foundation funding sources.
      • Conducts research and writes funding proposals as needed.
      • Provides support to grant writing consultants utilized by CCM when gathering information from internal and external stakeholders which are necessary for a strong proposal;
      • Provides guidance to program staff when obtaining information required for reporting to funding sources.
      • Prepares and completes accurate reports on time to funders;
      • Assists with the submission of necessary documentation to authorized licensing government agencies (e.g., NYS Office of Mental Health; NYS Office of Addiction Services & Supports, etc.).

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ability to effectively create, sustain, and grow partnerships with internal stakeholders (grant writers, finance, program leaders) and external stakeholders (city, state, federal and foundation funders)
    • Ability to effectively motivate a team around a common goal
    • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to set priorities
    • Excellent organizational and writing skills
    • Experience in government and/or foundation grant writing (both are preferred)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Non-profit management or Public Administration, or business related field is required. Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
    • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in fundraising and development, with a strong record of success in non-profit fundraising, grant writing, or education.

    Work schedule: Monday to Friday – 9am to 5pm (35 hours each week)
