(RSF USA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization affiliated with RSF that helps protect press freedom and the right to reliable information in the English-speaking Americas. We also use our position in Washington, DC to work in concert with RSF’s 15 offices around the world to advance our global priorities.

    Role Description

    RSF USA is seeking a Development & Administrative Assistant for our office in Washington, DC. Reporting to the Development Manager, this full-time role will support all fundraising activities in North America, as well as oversee various administrative processes for the office. The role operates in a hybrid office environment that requires two in-person work days per week. Employees may be occasionally required to be in person additional days based on work needs. Key responsibilities may include:

    FUNDRAISING

    • Process in-house donations (accurate gift entry, acknowledgements, etc.)
    • Maintain up-to-date donor information in the database and records
    • Assist with fundraising appeals and acquisitions
    • Manage donor correspondence received via email and phone calls
    • Support donor relations (oversee donor surveys, meeting assistance, etc.)
    • Conduct research on major donors, funders, and prospects to identify funding opportunities
    • Help draft and edit grant LOIs, proposals, and reports
    • Help coordinate fundraising events
    • Other fundraising tasks as assigned

    ADMINISTRATIVE

    • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director including scheduling, preparing for and taking minutes at meetings, and maintaining internal filing
    • Manage RSF USA vendors and consultants
    • Ensure bills are paid in a timely manner
    • Manage general office correspondence
    • Lead all in-house mailings
    • Provide research assistance to staff, as needed
    • Other administrative tasks or projects as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
    • Detail-oriented
    • Proactive
    • Highly organized
    • Proficiency in Google workspace, excel, and other office tools
    • Works well both independently and collaboratively
    • Interested in press freedom, human rights, journalism and/or international nonprofits
    • Media literate and an avid news consumer
    • Able to work in-person in Washington, DC per our hybrid schedule
    • BA in a related field or equivalent experience in a development/administrative role preferred
    • Eligible to work in the United States
    • French language skills are a plus, but not required

    Compensation

    The anticipated starting salary for this position is $50,000 annually. RSF USA offers a generous benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance; 25 days of PTO on top of federal holidays; parental leave; and 401k match.
