    Job Title Name: Associate Director of Corporations & Foundations

    Location: Hunter College

    Reports To: Director of Corporations & Foundations

    Position Overview:

    The Associate Director of Corporations & Foundations, reporting to the Director of Corporations & Foundations, will play a key support role in advancing the college’s institutional fundraising efforts. This position is primarily responsible for identifying and cultivating new corporate and foundation prospects whose philanthropic priorities align with Hunter College’s mission and strategic goals. Working closely with the Director, the Associate Director will assist in building a robust pipeline of potential funders, conducting prospect research, initiating outreach, and helping to develop tailored engagement strategies. The role also involves supporting proposal development and collaborating with the Institutional Advancement team to strengthen and expand the college’s base of organizational support.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward existing donors and prospects from Corporation and Foundation funding sources.
    • Develop briefings and materials for donor and prospect meetings.
    • Assist with validation meetings with Corporation and Foundation prospects to assess their giving potential.
    • Support the development of cultivation and solicitation strategies for Corporation and Foundation prospects.
    • Monitor and report on relationship management activity using Raisers Edge

    Prospecting & Strategy

    • Maintain an active portfolio of institutional prospects; drive outreach and qualification to build a balanced pipeline (discovery, cultivation, proposal, stewardship).
    • Monitor sector trends and RFPs; maintain a rolling grants calendar with deadlines, LOIs, proposals, and reporting dates.
    • Map corporate giving vehicles (corporate foundations, CSR/ESG, employee giving, sponsorships, matching gifts, in-kind).

    Proposal Development & Budgeting

    • Support the development of LOIs, concept notes, and full proposals in collaboration with Director of Corporations and Foundations, and other faculty/staff.
    • Partner with Finance Department Administration on allowable costs, restricted gift coding, and donor compliance.

    Data, Systems & Operations

    • Uphold CRM data hygiene standards (actions, stages, next steps, documents); generate pipeline and activity reports and brief leadership as needed.
    • Track proposal win/loss reasons and award terms to inform strategy and renewals.

    Collaboration & Culture

    • Work cross-functionally with Major Gifts, Alumni Relations, Events, and Academic units to integrate institutional asks into broader strategies

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Three plus years of successful experience in Corporation and Foundation gift fundraising, preferably in higher education.
    • Demonstrated success securing five- and six-figure institutional grants/sponsorships and managing renewals.
    • Familiarity with grants management (reporting calendars, deliverables, outcomes/metrics).
    • Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Ability to think strategically and creatively with excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders; occasional evening/event support.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Raiser's Edge or similar database system.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range is $85,000 - $100,000.
