    The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Choral Program Lead to help grow a performance-forward choral program. You’ll collaborate with our Director of Programs and key Program staff, and work directly with talented youth to build an inspiring ensemble. Monday’s programming is for 8-13 year olds, and Wednesday’s programming is for high school students enrolled in the After School Matters program.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead engaging choral rehearsals that build vocal technique, sight-reading, solfège, harmony, and performance fundamentals.
    • Co-develop rehearsal plans, repertoire, and performance calendars with the Program Director.
    • Prepare students for seasonal performances, community events, and showcases.
    • Mentor student instructors; support high school/college audition preparation as needed.
    • Maintain attendance, choral supplies, and learning materials.
    • Develop a curriculum for each session.
    • Collaborate on light outreach materials (e.g., flyers, forms, concert programs).

    Spring 2026 Schedule

    • Days/Times: Tuesdays, 3:30-5pm and Wednesdays, 2:30-4pm
    • Flex Option: Candidates who can commit to both days are preferred. Strong candidates available for either Tuesday OR Wednesday will be considered.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience working with youth (grades 3-8)
    • Strong vocal/choral background (multi-part ensemble experience preferred)
    • Prior voice teaching or directing experience (≥1 year)
    • Excellent communication, classroom management, and mentorship skills
    • Commitment to equity in education and the arts

    Nice to Have

    • Ability to accompany on piano or guitar
    • Experience preparing students for auditions (college, conservatory, festivals)
    • Familiarity with Chicago’s youth arts ecosystem and community performance settings

    Why BandWith

    • Flexibility: Part-time hours that fit creative/academic commitments
    • Team: Supportive, mission-driven colleagues
