    Description

    A Disaster Case Manager supports individuals and families impacted by disasters by developing and implementing personalized recovery plans. This role provides guidance, advocacy, and coordination of services to help survivors navigate complex recovery systems and access available resources.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • FEMA and Insurance Advocacy: Assist clients with disaster assistance applications, appeals, and documentation requirements; provide guidance in navigating insurance claims and understanding coverage.
    • Recovery Planning: Develop individualized, long-term recovery plans addressing housing stability, property damage, unmet needs, and financial recovery goals.
    • Resource Coordination: Connect clients with community resources and direct assistance, including food, clothing, temporary housing, and financial support (e.g., rental or mortgage assistance grants).
    • Rebuilding Assistance: Guide homeowners through local permitting processes and facilitate connections with licensed contractors and rebuilding resources.
    • Case Navigation and Support: Provide trauma-informed care, ongoing case management, and referrals to mental health and supportive services as needed.

    Disaster Case Managers serve as trusted advocates, helping survivors move from crisis to stability through coordinated, client-centered support.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred).
    • Strong assessment and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to develop and implement individualized recovery plans.
    • Excellent communication and active listening skills.
    • Cultural competence and sensitivity.
    • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
    • Ability to coordinate services across multiple agencies and stakeholders.
    • Conflict resolution and advocacy skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
