The CLE (Continuing Legal Education) Specialist and Program Manager for the New York County Lawyers Association is a pivotal administrative role responsible for the lifecycle of educational programs, forums, webinars and special projects from inception to completion. Responsibilities include strategic planning to compliance and regulatory reporting for this revenue-driven and member-facing department.
Position Responsibilities
- Program Development & Execution: Leads the planning and execution of a diverse portfolio of onsite and virtual CLE programs, and other lawyer training and education programs. This includes identifying topics, recruiting faculty, and managing speakers.
- Logistics & Event Management: Coordinates date and type of program (live, ZOOM, hybrid, CLE program, forum) fees, and oversees food and beverage, AV, materials, faculty bios and any speaker special needs or requests.
- Compliance & Accreditation: Ensures all CLE programs meet NYS CLE Board requirements. Ensures maintenance of Accredited Provider status, and accurate preparation of attendee and speaker CLE certificates, and maintenance of records of attendees, CLE certificates issued, evaluations, credits per program. Monitors and communicates changes to CLE rules and regulations in states of primary importance to internal stakeholders. Ensures that all programs comply with CLE regulations in primary jurisdictions.
- Financial Management: Develops and monitors program budgets, tracks attendance, revenue, and reconciles invoices and payments due/owed to program partners
- Stakeholder Liaison: Works with volunteers, practice-specific sections, and committees to develop curriculum and support member engagement. Works with co-sponsoring bar associations and other organizations to develop programs that are also beneficial to NYCLA members and to generate revenue
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Education, or Communications. JD preferred.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in professional education, association management, or large-scale event coordination. Prior CLE or other professional continuing education management preferred.
- Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with ZOOM, Microsoft Office 365, and willingness to learn how to use Protech Database Management System, and the on-line tools developed by the NYCLA CLE Institute to update the website, send ZOOM links and update attendee information.
- Soft Skills: High level of detail orientation, strong negotiation skills, collaborative approach to working with speakers, Committees and other organizations, excellent customer service for legal professionals, strong oral and written communications skills. Team player.
Work schedule is currently Hybrid.
Salary: $65,000 - $90,000 (based on level of experience and education)
