    Description

    The Development Assistant strives to fulfil the mission of Operation Nightwatch – with an emphasis on fairness, honesty, dignity and respect. This is achieved by assisting the Development Department with Special Events, Fundraising, Communication and Social Media. This is a position at a mission focused nonprofit organization that cares for our unsheltered neighbors with food, shelter, housing and hope.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Event Coordination

      • Provide a high level of support for special events and projects in consultation with the Director of Development.
      • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and venues.
      • Assist with procurement of items for events.
      • Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator to ensure the success of volunteers at various events.
      • Plan for and intervene in any scenarios that could impact the integrity of the event.
      • Attend events to support and take photos for social media, newsletters, etc.
      • Participate in calls with outside consultants, at the direction of the Development Director, especially around the Annual Fall Fundraiser and as otherwise assigned.

    Development

      • Design, create, and update marketing collateral/PDFs using Canva and Adobe Acrobat.
      • Create posts, maintain Communications Calendar and provide Social Media and website support in direct collaboration with other staff.
      • Assist with daily development administrative tasks including data entry, donation processing, proofreading, and preparing documents as directed.
      • Assist with fundraising campaigns throughout the year.
      • Grant research and editing proposals, as requested.
      • Under the direction of the Development Director - grant management for identified grant opportunities.
      • Assist with producing and layout of the monthly newsletter.
      • Conduct research as needed to support the Development Team.
