About Powered by People
Powered by People (PxP) is a Texas-based grassroots organization working to register, engage, and mobilize voters across the state through the power of volunteer leadership and relational organizing. We believe meaningful change begins with relationships — and that every person can move their community closer to justice through action, integrity, and connection.
About the Role
Powered by People (PxP) is hiring a dedicated, detail-oriented Training Specialist to lead and execute our comprehensive volunteer training programs across Texas. This person will be the full-time trainer, responsible for ensuring all volunteers are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively engage voters and lead grassroots organizing efforts.
The Training Specialist is central to our mission, owning the development, maintenance, and delivery of all training content. You'll keep existing courses updated, build new training modules as needed, and conduct full-time training sessions for volunteers statewide, supporting PxP's commitment to relational organizing and building grassroots leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Training Content Management & Development
- Maintain and update existing training content to reflect current program strategy, digital tool updates (like Reach and Mobilize), best practices, and organizational policies
- Design and build new, engaging training courses, modules, and materials (e.g., presentations, guides, quick-start videos) to support PxP's goals, including voter registration, relational organizing, and event hosting
- Collaborate closely with the Organizing Director, Reach Manager, and Data Team to ensure training materials are accurate, technically sound, and aligned with program operations and data integrity standards
Training Delivery & Facilitation
- Conduct full-time training sessions for volunteers across Texas, utilizing remote formats
- Coordinate with Organizers to schedule and deliver targeted regional or campus-specific training sessions
- Teach others to use digital tools (Mobilize, Reach, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.) with patience and clarity, providing hands-on instruction and troubleshooting guidance
- Serve as a primary post-training resource alongside the Organizers, managing and responding to volunteer questions, follow-up emails, and requests for additional guidance to ensure successful volunteer integration and program participation
Program Evaluation & Improvement
- Develop and implement feedback mechanisms to assess the effectiveness and impact of training programs on volunteer performance and outcomes
- Track and report on key training metrics, including participation rates, knowledge transfer, and volunteer skill competency
- Identify gaps or recurring issues in volunteer skills and propose new training solutions to the Organizing Director
- Serve as a resource for staff and volunteers, clearly communicating training updates, fixes, and new program features
Qualifications
- Deep commitment to PxP’s mission and belief in grassroots, volunteer-powered change
- Proven experience in developing, updating, and delivering engaging training content, preferably in a political, non-profit, or volunteer-management context
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills, with the ability to lead groups in predominantly remote (Zoom) settings
- Demonstrated ability to be welcoming, friendly, and patient when working with new volunteers and diverse groups
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing clear, concise, and encouraging instruction to build volunteer confidence and program participation
- Comfort with digital organizing tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Mobilize, Reach) and the ability to explain technical processes clearly to non-technical users
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage a complex training calendar and work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate volunteer schedules
- Bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply
Salary & Benefits
