The Senior Conservation Officer (SCO) is the Nature Foundation's lead technical conservation staff, responsible for executing and overseeing field-based monitoring and Senior Conservation Officer Job Description research/conservation activities while ensuring that data collected supports effective conservation management and future planning. The Senior Conservation Officer ensures that the Nature Foundation’s conservation work remains credible, consistent, and grounded in science, while also positioning the organization to move into a more strategic planning phase. This role is central to maintaining continuity between on-the-ground conservation action and long-term environmental management for the island. This is a hands-on role that combines fieldwork, technical leadership and science-to management interpretation. The SCO will work alongside Rangers and Conservation Staff in the field. They will also be responsible for maintaining research equipment, updating monitoring protocols to ensure data quality and signing off on scientific reporting. As NFSXM enters a planning phase (2026), this role will also play a key part in organizing and translating monitoring data to support the development of a Conservation Strategy and Marine Park Management Plan(s) as well as related policy instruments.
