The Brattleboro Music Center seeks an experienced and dynamic administrator to lead and manage the organization. This position is responsible for the overall success of the BMC and reports to its Board of Trustees.
Founded in 1952, the Brattleboro Music Center (BMC) is a vibrant community music organization offering education programs for children and adults, supporting an orchestra and three choirs, and presenting a robust concert season that features both emerging artists and world-renowned performers. Rooted in its local community, the BMC is committed to musical excellence across a broad spectrum of historical traditions.
The BMC is a nonprofit organization with an annual operating budget of approximately $1,000,000 and a small professional staff. The Executive Director works closely with program leaders, faculty, volunteers, and an engaged Board of Trustees to advance the organization’s mission.
The Executive Director provides strategic leadership, ensuring the organization’s financial health, operational excellence, and alignment with its mission. This role supervises staff and provides oversight of programming, fundraising, and communications, while balancing operational efficiency with high-quality artistic and educational programming.
The successful candidate will care deeply about music and have substantial executive-level experience working in arts management or the nonprofit sector. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, program directors, and faculty.
The Executive Director must be adept managing multiple priorities while advancing the organization’s vision and goals. We seek someone with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and cultivate diversity and community partnerships. Successful experience in fundraising is a plus.
Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher, and prior management experience in an arts, educational, or cultural organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
This is a full-time position, including some evenings and weekends.
Salary: $68,000–$75,000 based on experience
Start Date: July 2026
