    About Groundwork

Launched in 2018, the Groundwork Collaborative is driven by the idea that We Are The Economy: when all of us are doing well, that is when our economy thrives. We fight for progressive economic policy and narrative change that builds accountable public power, breaks up concentrations of private power, and affirmatively centers people too long left out of prosperity. We understand that taken together, these actions will lead to a stronger and more resilient economy.

Groundwork’s unique structure – part strategic communications, part think tank, and part issue advocacy organization – allows us to drive narrative and policy change with credibility, expertise, and impact. We work with four core audiences – the media, policymakers, economic policy experts, and grasstops organizations. We use targeted policy campaigns, timely research and messaging to build a community across the progressive movement to advance a truly inclusive economic worldview.

Groundwork has grown significantly in size and impact in recent years–adding several members to our high-performing team and taking on ambitious new campaigns. Groundwork seeks a Program Coordinator to support our growing work across the progressive movement and support public programming that advances our mission.

The Coordinator will work with teams across the organization to scale and execute public programming and track relationships with policy experts, advocates, academics, and organizers to ensure this programming features a diverse array of experts and effectively advances our work with our core audiences. This position is a mix of event coordination, project management, and partnership tracking, and will be an exciting role for a detail-oriented, highly organized self-starter interested in advancing progressive economic work. The Program Coordinator will support Groundwork’s events and partnership efforts by managing logistics, tracking and mapping partner engagement, and ensuring smooth execution across event priorities.

As Groundwork’s Program Coordinator, you will:

    • Play a central role in event planning and execution, managing timelines, vendor coordination, venue logistics, registration processes, and day-of event operations. Work closely with the Director of Partnerships & Programming to ensure events run smoothly and reflect Groundwork’s priorities.
    • Handle event-related tracking and internal processes, such as budget tracking, vendor payments, and maintaining records of event performance and outcomes.
    • Research and recommend venues and vendors for events in the D.C. area; knowledge of local event spaces is a plus.
    • Support Groundwork’s partnership work by tracking and mapping relationships that advance the organization’s programmatic, policy, and communications goals. Maintain detailed notes and records of partner meetings and opportunities, ensuring visibility across teams and alignment with internal priorities.
    • Support the development and upkeep of partnership infrastructure, including systems for tracking engagement, maintaining institutional knowledge, and coordinating outreach efforts across teams.
    • Assist with external engagement, helping prepare materials and briefings for Groundwork’s leadership team on partnership opportunities, challenges, and developments across core audiences.
    • Provide logistical and administrative support for the Partnership team including the scheduling of meetings and convenings, materials preparation, and follow-up tracking.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    About you:

    • You’re committed to advancing an economy that works for everyone and centers justice and equity, and you’re interested in learning more about economic policy. Familiarity with economic policy issues and progressive organizations is a plus.
    • You’re detail-oriented and skilled at tracking information, taking clear notes, and bringing insights and updates back to the team.
    • You’re a reliable project coordinator who supports the planning, organization, and follow-through of projects, helping keep timelines, materials, and communications on track.
    • You have experience supporting virtual, hybrid, or in-person events and are comfortable managing logistics and communication needs for programming.
    • You’re highly organized and committed to delivering accurate, high-quality work on deadline.
    • You’re an effective communicator who can clearly convey information and next steps across email, Slack, and in-person interactions.
    • You’re a strong writer who can produce accurate, polished written materials.
    • You’re proactive in flagging challenges and helping identify potential solutions.
    • You’re flexible, collaborative, and ready to jump in where needed.
    • You’re comfortable using (or learning) Google Suite, Slack, Microsoft Office, and major social

    media platforms.

The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $79,000. We offer a generous benefits package, including five weeks of vacation and personal leave, two week-long office closures, additional time off for floating and federal holidays, zero-premium health insurance, a generous HRA, a retirement match of up to 6%, 12 weeks of paid parental leave with an option to take an additional 4 weeks unpaid, health club and cell-phone reimbursements, among other benefits. We are a hybrid workplace, with Mondays and Wednesdays in the office and three days remote, as well as the occasional need to work in person for events and special projects.
