    Immigrant Rights Organizer

    Escucha Mi Voz Iowa

    Johnson County / Linn County, Iowa

    Position Summary

    Escucha Mi Voz Iowa is seeking a passionate, bilingual Immigrant Rights Organizer to help build the leadership, power, and organization of immigrant workers and families. This organizer will focus on member recruitment, leadership development, rapid response organizing, and community defense campaigns that protect families and advance dignity, safety, and opportunity for all.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Recruit and engage immigrant workers and community members into Escucha Mi Voz membership
    • Conduct one-on-one organizing conversations and leadership development
    • Help coordinate Neighborhood Response Teams and rapid response efforts
    • Support Know Your Rights trainings, legal observer trainings, and public actions
    • Assist members in identifying issues such as wage theft, housing injustice, and deportation threats
    • Help plan and execute membership meetings, leadership trainings, and campaigns
    • Build relationships with community partners, faith leaders, and local organizations
    • Maintain regular communication with members and volunteers

    Qualifications

    • Strong commitment to immigrant rights, worker justice, and community organizing
    • Ability to build relationships across cultures and backgrounds
    • Bilingual Spanish/English required
    • Strong communication and facilitation skills
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
    • Experience in organizing, advocacy, or community leadership is a plus

    Compensation

    Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits available.

    Escucha Mi Voz Iowa is a worker justice center and community organizing group led by immigrant workers and their families. We organize to stop deportations, recover unpaid wages, win affordable housing, and build long-term community power.
