    OneWorld Now! (OWN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing global education opportunities to youth from historically marginalized communities. We combine world language instruction, leadership training, and study abroad programs to help students become confident, empathetic, and globally minded leaders.

    About the Role

    The World Languages Manager leads and supports the implementation, quality, and operations of OWN’s Arabic, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and Russian language programs. This includes curriculum oversight, teacher management and support, program logistics, and cross-department coordination to ensure a high-quality student experience.

    This position combines academic leadership, program management, and direct support for teachers and students. As part of OWN’s leadership team, this role helps shape the organization’s overall direction and priorities while overseeing the language program. The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, and passionate about language education and youth development.

    Core Responsibilities

    Teacher and Program Management (40%)

    • Supervise and support a team of five part-time world language teachers.
    • Visit classrooms regularly to assess instruction, provide actionable feedback, and complete formal teacher evaluations.
    • Facilitate bi-weekly all-teacher meetings and ongoing team check-ins that include professional development, collaboration, and curriculum discussions.
    • Serve as liaison between teachers and OWN office staff, communicating needs, updates, and issues promptly.
    • Guide teachers in adapting instruction for multi-level classrooms and designing accessible, culturally responsive learning experiences.
    • Develop and maintain the annual language class schedule, teacher handbook, and academic calendar.
    • Manage the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of language teachers and summer program teaching assistants; and coordinate substitute and coverage support as needed.

    Academic Quality & Curriculum (20%)

    • Lead ongoing curriculum development and revision to ensure high-quality, culturally responsive, and standards-aligned instruction. Collaborate with teachers to develop rubrics and strengthen alignment with learning outcomes.
    • Support teachers in creating engaging midterms, finals, and student projects.
    • Develop and analyze teacher and student surveys to improve program quality.

    Partnerships & Cross-Department Collaboration (20%)

    • Assist with the 2027 Cognia reaccreditation process, ensuring compliance and timely submission of all documentation.
    • Coordinate grant activities and partnerships, including curriculum collaborations and reporting requirements.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director on budget management and organizational strategy as part of OWN’s leadership team.
    • Represent OWN at conferences and external convenings to strengthen visibility and strategic collaborations.
    • Work with the Program Operations Manager to manage enrollment, learning platforms, tuition tracking, and family communications.
    • Partner with the Director of Student Support & Belonging to align language and leadership programming and advance DEI integration across all curriculum areas.
    • Contribute to other organizational priorities and tasks as needed.

    Program Logistics & Technology (10%)

    • Monitor Canvas pages to ensure classes are published, grades updated, and student access is correct.
    • Manage student enrollment alignment between Canvas and DreamClass.
    • Oversee the administration of the STAMP language proficiency tests, including materials, scheduling, and communication.
    • Ensure compliance with Seattle Public Schools site policies, background checks, and permits for in-person classes.
    • Maintain accurate student records, credits, transcripts, and attendance within DreamClass and related systems.

    Summer Language Program (10%)

    • Lead planning and implementation of the annual summer language program, overseeing staff hiring, scheduling, and logistics to ensure smooth operations.
    • Direct curriculum development, assessment design, and staff training, and facilitate daily debriefs to maintain a safe, engaging, and high-quality learning environment.
    • Oversee STAMP testing, cultural programming, and student reflections in collaboration with the teaching team to support language growth and intercultural learning.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in education, linguistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Minimum three years of world language teaching experience at the middle or high school level; language program management or coordination experience preferred.
    • Proven ability to coach teachers in delivering engaging, high-quality world language instruction across online and in-person settings; experienced in designing and revising culturally responsive, standards-aligned curricula.
    • Experience with Canvas, Google Workspace, Zoom, and database systems.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Commitment to racial, social, and economic justice.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Intermediate or higher proficiency in Arabic, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, or another language that uses a non-Latin alphabet.
    • Experience building and maintaining partnerships with public schools.
    • Knowledge of Seattle Public Schools systems and local community organizations.
    • Background working in nonprofit or youth-serving environments.

    Compensation, hours, and benefits: This is a full-time (40 hours/week), non-exempt position at a salary of $54,000-$58,000 annually, depending on experience (with an annual cost-of-living adjustment increase). Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support events. Generous benefits package with health insurance (medical, dental, and vision, with 100% employer contribution), retirement, and paid time off policy (beginning with three weeks per year plus two weeks of paid office closure).

    Location: 610 Maynard Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104. Applicants must be based in the greater Seattle area or be willing to relocate for this role. OneWorld Now is a hybrid workplace, with employees having flexibility about whether to work from the office or from home. For this position, we anticipate a need to be in the office at least two days per week, with some weekday evening hours required for observing and coaching teachers during online classes.
