    Job Summary

    Reporting to an engaged Board of Directors, the energetic and visionary Managing Director is responsible for ensuring the fiscal and operational health of the $1 million organization. This new position will oversee financial, advancement, program, and operations management and support a staff of four. This is an exciting opportunity to uplift Queer art and artists at a time when Queer art is threatened with erasure.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as an internal and external champion for BOFFO’s mission and vision.
    • Manage the organization's budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability, and serve as the point person for the bookkeeper and audit committee.
    • Work closely with the Director of Development and Board of Directors to drive and increase fundraising from all sources, including strategy and implementation.
    • Act as liaison to the Board, coordinate and attend meetings, prepare board reports, and serve as an ex-officio member of all Board committees.
    • Oversee development and program staff and contractors and help determine the organization’s optimal staffing structure.
    • Help team produce and manage special events, as needed.
    • Ensure a positive and productive work environment, efficient project management and supportive human capital systems.
    • Foster strong relationships with Board, staff, community members, partners, volunteers and stakeholders.

    Qualities + Qualifications

    • Five+ years of experience in nonprofit management in the arts or a related field
    • Passion for BOFFO’s mission, its cultural and educational programs, and community engagement and inclusion
    • Experience working closely with a board, staff, partners, and external constituents, as well as managing staff
    • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets
    • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, team building and communication skills
    • A strong work ethic and flexibility to attend BOFFO and community events and engagements beyond traditional business hours on and off Fire Island (housing provided)
    • Familiarity with fundraising, donor relations, and securing institutional and capital funding and grant writing
    • Familiarity with communications, marketing, public relations, audience development and community engagement
    • Familiarity with the New York cultural scene, Queer and otherwise
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Suite, Asana, QuickBooks, and experience with CRM software and technology (Salesforce)

    Benefits

    Salary is $100,000. Benefits include health insurance, access to dental and vision insurance, three weeks of vacation, special year-end bonus, federal holidays, and five sick days.
