    Description

Program Director – Description of Role

CodeSquad (https://codesquad.org) is seeking a part-time Program Director to expand the impact, sustainability and scale of our organization. We are looking for a highly organized leader who can grow our program and expand partnerships while managing day-to-day operations. Experience in the software development industry is highly desirable but not required. The goal for this position is to expand into an Assistant Director role, taking on more responsibilities from the Executive Director, dependent on fundraising success.

This position is mostly remote; however, attendance is required at in-person meetings and events in Somerville, MA and Boston, MA, roughly once per month.

    About the Organization

CodeSquad (www.codesquad.org) is a non-profit organization that trains talented, low-income adults, particularly people of color and women, to become full-stack software developers – and works to find them internships or full-time technology jobs. To do this we provide a free, intensive, 25-week training bootcamp that runs from December-June. Graduates of our program have become software engineers, web developers, and more at companies including Liberty Mutual, United Health, Harvard University, Rapid7, Athenahealth and NBC Universal, and dramatically increased their earning potential.

    Position Overview

The Program Director will work closely with the Executive Director, Management Team and Board of Directors to keep our operations running smoothly. The successful candidate will work to deeply understand our mission and operations, and develop a vision for growing our program and increasing sustainability.

    Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

    • Develop a deep understanding of CodeSquad’s mission and value proposition
    • Manage logistics for CodeSquad events, including student recruitment, all-staff meetings, board meetings, occasional donor events and our annual student showcase.
    • Ensure that board meeting follow-ups are scheduled and assigned
    • Serve as project manager for the Pathways Project, supervising CodeSquad graduates building websites and applications for small businesses and nonprofits. Identify project deliverables, manage the client relationship and track project completion (technical oversight will be provided by a Technical Lead).
    • Manage biweekly payroll, plus onboarding and retention of nine-person staff
    • Review CodeSquad grant proposals to ensure alignment with program capacity and deliverables
    • Survey program graduates about their career progress; generate reports on program impact
    • Other duties as assigned
