    Reports To: Interim Director of Marketing & Communications

    FLSA: Non-Exempt

    One of the nation’s oldest schools for hands-on training in traditional trades and fine craftsmanship, North Bennet Street School (nbss.edu) is internationally known for its programs that help students to achieve meaningful lives and livelihoods. For more than a century, the exceptional programs, master faculty, and inspiring community have encouraged individual growth, curiosity, technical mastery, and commitment to excellence.

    The School offers full-time programs in Bookbinding, Carpentry, Cabinet & Furniture Making, Jewelry Making & Repair, Locksmithing & Security Technology, Piano Technology, Preservation Carpentry, and Violin Making & Repair. In addition, NBSS provides continuing education classes in a range of related disciplines. The School is located at an impressive, new facility in Boston’s historic North End, the community in which it was originally founded in 1881.

    Position Summary

    We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator to help us highlight our talented community and champion our important work. This is a full-time, temporary position with hybrid possibilities.

    We’re looking for a creative, motivated, and highly collaborative marketing and communications professional who will coordinate content production across multiple channels. Collaborating with the staff and faculty at NBSS, and across departments, you’ll create and share relevant and engaging stories, posts, videos, and more.

    Key Responsibilities

    • With direction provided, assist in creating, designing, managing, and sharing content across multiple channels that highlights the School’s offerings and excellence in craft/trade education. This includes:
      • Print (magazines, postcards, event collateral, print ads, etc)
      • Digital (website, blog, social media, mass email, photo, video, etc)
    • Uphold the quality, consistency, and innovation of communications, producing the highest quality work that follows the School’s editorial, brand, and digital guidelines.
    • Manage, plan, create, and deliver content on existing NBSS social media profiles (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter).
    • Maintain and update content on School webpages, and data within Hubspot database.
    • Coordinate print production, email/mailing lists, and advertising deadlines.
    • Track performance data for email engagement, social posts, video views, web traffic, and digital advertising.
    • Support event registration and communications. Provide video streaming support for virtual and hybrid public events.
    • Work alongside creative and technical consultants.
    • Attend weekly meetings in person and via Zoom.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Preferred 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, social media, design, or related field: an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
    • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BFA) preferred.
    • Proven experience managing professional social media accounts.
    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite for both print and digital projects.
    • Photography and/or videography experience preferred (including smartphone-based content creation).
    • Working knowledge of Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
    • Familiarity with HubSpot or a similar CRM is a plus, but not required.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with solid project management abilities.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and sound judgment.
    • Ability to work independently and quickly learn new systems.
    • Ability to effectively manage priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
    • Experience in crafts, trades, or the arts is a plus.

    Working Conditions & Physical Demands

    • Must be able to frequently walk up and down stairs.
    • Must be able to lift more than 25 lbs. and assist others to do the same.
    • Walking, standing, and bending for long periods of time.
    • Prolonged periods of working at a computer.

    Pay Range

    $30-$32 per hour, commensurate with experience.

    Additional Details

    This is a full-time, temporary role beginning as soon as possible, through mid-September 2026. The role is hybrid, with four days on-site and one day remote. The work week for this position is Monday–Friday for a total of 35 hours each week. There may be very occasional evening or weekend events required.
