    Organization: Faith in Action East Bay (FIAEB) is a broad-based organization of congregations, schools, and allied organizations, representing over 25,000 families across the East Bay, committed to building a powerful multi-faith, multi-racial, intergenerational, and prophetic forcefor racial and economic justicein the East Bay. Since1977, Faith in Action East Bay (formerly Oakland Community Organizations) has collaborated with other allied organizations in serving residents of the East Bay – primarily people of color and low-income persons – to address a wide range of issues. FIAEB is a coalition of progressive faith-based community action organizations whose primary mission is to equip leaders with the tools to bring about economic self-sufficiency, health and safety, civic engagement, connectivity, and commitment to lifelong learning within their communities.

    PositionSummary: FIAEB is seeking an experienced organizer to work with congregations, schools and communities in Alameda County and provide training for clergy, organizers, and lay leaders. The organizer will help lead power-building and strategic campaigns across the region.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Leadership development which includes but not limitedto clergy, lay and ordinary community member at congregations, schools, and other institutions.
    • Organizer development: recruit,train and superviselocal leaders to organize powerfullocal campaigns.
    • Develop relationships with congregations and issue tables,and support their organizing efforts.
    • Actively participate in 1-1’s as specified in our organizing model.
    • Leadership development: participate in the building of a powerful leadership training program that will engagecommunity leaders in building a shared analysisand vision while building an agenda for racial and economic justice in the region.
    • Campaign development: provideguidance to leaderson key fights for racialand economic justice in the region;center the work with strategies to build multi-faith relationships across race, gender, language and to create an anti-blackness culture across the region.
    • Visit with assignedcongregations, schools, allies,and funders in pursuit of FIAEB campaign goals.
    • Support our Theoryof Change and the integration of multiple campaigns across the organization.
    • Attend regular staff meetings, staff development meetings,and other sessionsrelated to staff work (currently held virtually; subject to change).
    • Track your work using assigneddatabases, electronic reporting, and other toolsas required.
    • Develop a quarterly work plan, produceand submit a weekly report.
    • Assist in fund development efforts as requested, including providing narrative and quantitativeinformation to those preparing new grants and reporting on existing grants.
    • Other tasks as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3-5 years experience in community organizing and developing leaders.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
    • Commitment to equity,social and economicjustice, and bottom-upchange.
    • Strong relational skillsand ability to connect, engageand inspire community members across religion, race, gender, age, language, and class.
    • Capacity to thinkstrategically and analytically about social, economic, cultural, moral, and political issues impacting communities in the region.
    • Desire to learnand openness to challenge and accountability.
    • Ability to guide, direct and support leaders to advocate for equity and inclusion, and work independently; abilityto set boundaries to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
    • Experience and capacityto work in strategic partnerships and build strongalliances.
    • Commitment to build power among grassroots leadersand with faith communities. experience in building collective decision-making structures.
    • Experience organizing in African American communities a plus.
    • Residence in or near Alameda County strongly preferred. Note that moving expenses will not be provided.
