    About WHCO

WHCO brings world-class classical music to Upper Manhattan through professional musicians who call uptown home. Over our 11 years, we’ve presented 100+ concerts and have been featured in the New York Times, TimeOut NY, and Gothamist.

    The Role

You are an organized, proactive problem-solver ready to own the entire process of concert logistics and volunteer coordination for our 10 annual concerts. You'll recruit and manage volunteers, coordinate day-of-event operations, and ensure audiences and donors have an excellent experience. This role is designed to grow into operations management as you prove yourself and as our budget expands.

    You'll Handle

    • Volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, appreciation
    • Concert-day operations: setup, reception, donations, problem-solving, strike
    • Build systems that make each event smoother
    • Light ops support (posters, supplies, social media coverage)

    You Are

    • Organized and proactive—you anticipate needs, don't wait to be told
    • A systems builder, not a task-checker
    • Reliable under pressure
    • Warm and professional with donors, audiences, volunteers
    • Available evenings/weekends for concerts

    Time & Pay

1-2 hrs/week ongoing + day-of coordination for ~10 concerts. Includes training with ED. Growth path to Operations Director within 2-3 years.

    • Ongoing work: $30-35/hour (60-80 hrs/year)
    • MainStage events (3): $450 each
    • Outreach concerts (7): $175 each
    • Year 1 total: $5,000-5,500

Strongly preferred: Events experience, Upper Manhattan familiarity, a passion for classical music, and some level of Spanish.

Apply: Submit resume plus brief cover letter highlighting your skills and experiences. Include a description of a recent project where you had to manage relationships with others, do multiple tasks at the same time, and/or problem solve on the spot.

    Rolling review. Start immediately.
