    Description

    The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is the premier nonprofit association serving the volunteer fire, emergency, and rescue services. Today, the NVFC serves as the voice of over one million volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel on Capitol Hill and provides valuable training, programs, and other resources.

    The NVFC seeks a full-time Membership Coordinator. This position is remote, but will ideally be based in the Washington, DC, area near core staff and NVFC functions. Excellent organizational abilities and written and verbal communication skills are a must for this position. The Membership Coordinator will assist in a variety of membership activities. Duties include member services, assisting in member outreach and communications, maintaining current and accurate membership records, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a thorough understanding of all membership categories, benefits, and initiatives and communicate them effectively to prospective and current members
    • Answer member calls and respond to membership inquiries promptly and accurately
    • Assist Membership Manager in member processes such as dues renewals, entering/updating member data, maintaining accurate database records, processing membership cards and mailings, and compiling membership reports
    • Draft forms, letters and other membership materials and maintain files as appropriate or directed and in accordance with NVFC policies
    • Support an online member forum, including monitoring discussions for adherence to community guidelines, responding to inquiries, generating activity reports, tracking monthly engagement metrics, and providing assistance with our ambassador program
    • Draft and deliver membership presentations to attract new members and cultivate existing relationships. May represent the organization at speaking engagements, tradeshows and meetings
    • Retrieve and deliver membership data to support the communications team in executing targeted outreach initiatives
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications/Skills/Competencies Required:

    • Experience with Rhythm membership database and/or other membership database(s) preferred
    • Experience with email marketing systems such as Constant Contact or Informz preferred
    • Experience using and/or managing a Higher Logic or other online community preferred
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and other productivity tools
    • Excellent customer service ethic
    • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information persuasively and concisely to different audiences
    • Understanding of association membership, strategic planning, market research, marketing and communication, product development, and decision-making skills
    • Highly organized with the ability to learn quickly, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with high attention to detail
    • Ability to work well under pressure, determine priorities, and produce results
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and respond to the needs of target audiences and member segments
    • Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently; a self-initiator who is versatile and motivated
    • Demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining members
    • Energetic, forward-thinking and creative with high ethical standards and professional image
    • Demonstrated willingness to embrace change and adapt strategies as needed
    • Ability to understand importance of the position for the success of NVFC
    • Strong desire to continue to learn and develop new and exciting content

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university; minimum two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Volunteer fire service experience or knowledge a plus!

    Salary Range:

    • $49,411-$55,000 annually ($23.76-$26.44/hour) commensurate with experience and qualifications.
