Antisemitism and Hate Crimes Outreach Specialist

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Summary: This position drives forward the Federation’s work to improve the safety and well-being

of Jewish community members facing hate crimes and bias incidents by helping our community

understand the importance of Washington State’s Hate Crimes & Bias Incidents Hotline, how to use

it, and supporting community members experiencing anti-Jewish harm.

Essential Responsibilities include the following:

• Plan, execute, and deliver trainings and information sessions statewide that educate Jewish community members on how to utilize the Hate Crimes & Bias Incidents Hotline.
• Support Jewish community members experiencing hate or bias to utilize the hotline and connect them to wraparound services and support.
• Engage Jewish community members to gather feedback and assess accessibility needs to improve access to and utilization of the Hate Crimes & Bias Incidents Hotline.
• Measure and report on the effectiveness of education and outreach through two surveys, one that measures community comfort with reporting to the hotline before the start of education and outreach efforts, and one that measures community comfort with reporting to the hotline after education and outreach efforts have concluded.
• Participate in quarterly meetings convened by the Attorney General’s Office to collaborate with other contracted community-based organizations.
• Write and submit quarterly progress reports detailing grant execution progress.
• Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Strong understanding of Jewish identity and antisemitism, and how to holistically build Jewish safety and inclusion
• Experience working on a federal or state grant
• Knowledge of hate crime statutes in Washington State

Required Attributes and Competencies:

• At least 3 years of experience working in advocacy, nonprofits, or the Jewish community.
• Experience working with Jewish community members
• Understanding of Jewish identity and antisemitism, and respect for a holistic approach to building Jewish safety and inclusion
• Basic understanding of hate crimes and bias incidents and their impact on communities
• Strong facilitator and communicator -- persuasive writer, impactful public speaker, ability to boil down complex information and clearly convey a message
• Excellent interpersonal skills -- proven track record of building and maintaining robust relationships with diverse stakeholders
• A self-starter, someone who can work well independently
• Possesses sound judgement and strong discretion on sensitive issues
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines
• Must be able to travel locally regularly, and to various locations across the state as needed
• Possession of a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance is required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• While all Federation employees are “at-will,” this position is grant-funded, and in its current capacity, is slated to go through September 30, 2027.
• Salary: $33/hour, 30 hours/week
• Paid time off and Holidays are as follows: fifteen (15) vacation days and five (5) sick days annually, nine (9) Federal Holidays, and Jewish holidays, which vary year to year.

• The Federation offers a supplemental leave program to Washington State’s Paid Family & Medical Leave, which makes employees’ salaries “whole” for the duration of the leave approved by the state.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk,

bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and

arms; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific

vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus is required.
