    Description

    The May Day Strong movement builds community-labor power to stop the country’s slide towards authoritarianism and create a society that puts people over billionaires.

    The Action Center on Race and the Economy (ACRE) is a founding member of the May Day Strong movement, with seats on both the Executive Committee and the Steering Committee. ACRE and ACRE Institute drive campaigns that seek to create a more racially and economically just society that values people over profit and supports the full inclusion and leadership of Black, brown, and poor people in our democracy and economy.

    The Senior Field Director will be based out of ACRE but work as part of the May Day Strong team. This position is will work closely with the May Day Strong Executive Committee and will report to the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at ACRE.

    The term of this position is 12 months and may be extended contingent upon funding and mutual agreement.

    Key Responsibilities

    ACRE is seeking an experienced, mission-driven professional to help grow the May Day Strong movement.

    • Develop and maintain relationships with community and labor partners in assigned geographies, including identifying anchor organizations convening May Day Strong aligned tables
    • Coordinate with working groups to ensure local implementation of key 2026 strategies
      • Strike Schools with strong labor and community involvement
      • 4-6 big national actions (including May Day and Labor Day)
      • Campaigns directed at key corporate and billionaire bad actors
      • Strategic and aligned policy campaigns
    • Share landscape analysis, assessment of alignment and readiness, and support needs of assigned geographies with Steering Committee and Executive Committee on an ongoing basis
    • Coordinate MDS representation to assigned geographies to support alignment building, strike and solidarity schools, and actions (travel when possible and/or coordinating with the MDS steering committee to get coverage for strategic opportunities)

    Qualifications

    • A strong commitment to progressive social change and racial justice and a passion for ACREBCG
    • ’s vision and mission
    • At least 12 years of experience organizing for social change, including:
      • At least 5 years working in state and/or local community-labor partnerships
    • Deep and demonstrated commitment to anti-racist practices and a successful track record of establishing credibility and trust with a predominantly women of color staff
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in politically sensitive and high-pressure environments
    • Strong critical thinking skills
    • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, with minimal supervision
    • Willingness to work long and irregular hours and travel when needed
    • Knowledge of legal constraints of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofits
    • A good sense of humor

    LGBTQ, women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply. The salary range for this position is $138,000 to $141,300. Position includes excellent benefits. Location is flexible within the contiguous United States. This position will be jointly employed by ACRE, a 501(c)(4) organization, and ACRE Institute, a 501(c)(3) organization. This position is not part of the bargaining unit of the ACRE Workers Union.
