    Job Overview: At Providence Center, we empower children and teens through education and enrichment programs. The Program Coordinator/Lead Teacher coordinates and facilitates our Power After-School Program for grades K-8 and the Summer Leadership Academy for teens.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide a safe, supportive educational environment for children and youth.
    • Supervise children during all afterschool program activities, including, but not limited to, school pick-up, snack time, homework time, group activities, and field trips.
    • Submit weekly lesson plans to the Director of Operations and Compliance focusing on social and emotional learning, literacy-building skills, and project-based learning.
    • Coach Teen Leaders who assist in the after-school classroom to build social, emotional, and academic skills.
    • Coordinate with Teen Leaders and volunteers in the classroom to observe and support student progress.
    • Provide opportunities for Teen Leaders to have a leadership role in daily activities.
    • Participate in Providence Center staff meetings and professional development.
    • Use materials, activities, and affirmative feedback consistent with the mission, values, and framework of the after-school program.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with local education-focused agencies and institutions.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of services and data.
    • Conducted team check-ins and reported on activities, needs, and outcomes.
    • Manage student recruitment, assessments, and orientation.
    • Maintain student files in compliance with DHS standards.
    • Provide programmatic guidance and training to staff, Teen Leaders, and volunteers.
    • Track program expenditures.

    Role Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or a related field, or
    • Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field plus 1 year of experience working with youth, or
    • High school diploma/GED plus 2 years of experience (2,500 hours) working with youth.

    Clearances Required:

    • Pennsylvania Child Abuse, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Check, FBI as required by DHS, National Sex Offender Registry, and any applicable out of state clearances

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Bilingual- English/Spanish (preferred)
    • Some experience in teaching or curriculum development
    • Familiarity with inner city education issues
    • Ability to create a fun and safe learning environment
    • Strong understanding of child behavior and learning patterns
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and remain calm and patient

    Soft Skills Required:

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and adapt to changing situations.
    • Empathy and building positive relationships with students, staff, and community members.
    • Leadership skills to guide and motivate program staff, Teen Leaders, and volunteers.
