    About Writopia Lab

    Writopia Lab is an award-winning 501(C)(3) nonprofit that runs creative writing workshops for kids ages 7 to 18. Since its formation in New York City in 2007, Writopia Lab has grown into a nationwide community of young writers. Our mission is to foster joy, literacy, and critical thinking in children and teens from all backgrounds through creative writing. We create a safe and engaging space for writers, and we aim to provide the creative inspiration, individual attention, and intellectual environment that may not be available to them at school.

    About the Role

    The Data & IT Coordinator is responsible for supporting Writopia Lab's technology infrastructure and data development for the CRM on a PaaS based platform. The scope of this role provides tech support for a full-time staff of 16-18 and and a part time staff of 70-80 during the school year and 110-140 during the summer season (mid-June through August) across five work locations in three regions. The person in this role maintains and repairs an inventory of approximately 500 educational Chromebooks and 20 staff laptops.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Technology Coordinator (90%)

    • Support and maintain Writopia Lab’s technical infrastructure, including network switch board, port management, server maintenance, Wi-fi network management, Google Workspace Admin Console, NVR security systems, and VoIP phone system
    • Serve as the first point of contact for day to day IT support for full time and part time staff
    • Ensure the continual functionality and security of hardware and SaaS based tools including but not limited to license renewal and regular updates
    • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with internet connections, staff issued Windows laptops, chromebooks, workstation compatibility, and printers
    • Monitor for and resolve any potential issues with the automated Google account creation process; ensure Google accounts are created timely and accurately for all workshop participants and staff
    • Oversee staff and workshop participants’ permissions and access to technology platforms
    • Oversee inventory, procurement, and maintenance of IT equipment, including approximately 500 educational Chromebooks
    • Provide IT support for the annual two-week sleepaway camp, WriCampia
    • Support the office staff with check-in and check-out of workshop participants as needed on weekday afternoons

    Data Coordinator (10%)

    • Maintain data integrity and accuracy in the CRM
    • Support the development of the CRM as directed

    Qualifications and Skills

    • BA degree or pursuit of BA degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field preferred
    • Minimum two years experience in IT support, preferably at a non-profit organization
    • Experience working in environments that serve young people
    • Knowledge of office IT systems, including firewall maintenance, connectivity management, NVR security and VoIP phone systems.
    • Knowledge of Google Workspace Admin Console, including GAM
    • Ability to set up and configure computer work stations
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace Suite, including Google Sheets and Google Apps Script
    • Familiarity with Zapier
    • Knowledge of Chromebook and Windows laptop repair and maintenance
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills
    • Ability to support staff with differing levels of technical knowledge
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Resourcefulness
