    Reports to: Executive Director

    Hours: Monday –Friday with some nights and weekends

    Compensation: $22-25 per hour. Nonexempt, Full time. 100% employer paid health, vision, & dental insurance. Wellness reimbursement. 15 PTO Days +10 paid holidays. IRA, FSA, & life insurance. Paid volunteer time. Disaster pay. Professional development allotment.

    Job Purpose

    The Program Director oversees and coordinates all NourishNC programs in a high-energy, community-driven environment. This role serves as the direct liaison between school social workers, clients, community partners, and volunteers. The ideal candidate is highly organized, emotionally intelligent, and skilled in clear, compassionate communication.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Operations

    • Manage scheduling and calendars for all program activities, including volunteer groups, backpack distributions, markets, and school events.
    • Enroll new clients and use our CRM to maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
    • Lead client check-in and provide excellent customer service during market days.
    • Communicate weekly with school social workers to coordinate services, share updates, and address student and family needs.
    • Develop, update, and maintain accurate backpack program lists for the warehouse to ensure consistent packing and delivery.
    • Create and maintain reports tracking key program metrics, including participation, partnerships, enrollment, and demographics.
    • Provide timely, compassionate communication with clients — sharing updates, answering questions, and coordinating support as needed.
    • Build relationships with community partners.
    • Schedule and lead orientations for our “Core” volunteers.
    • Translate materials into Spanish.
    • Oversee onboarding for LRW participants and partner agencies.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Backpack Program:

    • Partner with school social workers and other partners to connect students with food assistance and strengthen relationships with schools.
    • Evaluate and continuously improve program services using surveys, focus groups, and other feedback tools.
    • Maintain client database with up-to-date and accurate information.
    • Coordinate weekly distribution of bags and delivery/pick up of food bags and boxes.
    • Create engaging content and present concise information for school personnel webpage.

    The Market on Market (MoM):

    • Increase family engagement and use feedback to enhance the shopping experience.
    • Communicate with families and schools about market schedules through various channels.
    • Lead the client check-in process.
    • Connect clients with other community resources and agencies.
    • Coordinate delivery of food to clients without transportation.

    Mobile Market on Market:

    • Assist with scheduling and logistics for Mobile Market events.
    • Collaborate on menu and recipe development.

    Food Farmacy Program:

    • Coordinate food orders and logistics with program partners.

    Little Red Wagon:

    • Recruit new neighborhood food drive hosts and retain existing ones through engagement and recognition.

    Volunteer engagement:

    • Schedule and engage diverse individuals and groups to support NNC’s programs.
    • Lead “Core” volunteer orientations and ensure a positive, mission-aligned volunteer experience.
    • Collect feedback and continuously improve volunteer engagement.

    General

    • Support day-to-day administrative needs.
    • Model and uphold NourishNC’s values in every decision.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • 4-year degree in relevant field (Ex: social work) or equal life experience.
    • Experience in office/program administration.
    • 3 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector

    Knowledge of:

    • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (must be proficient in Excel).
    • Issues surrounding childhood hunger.

    Physical Demands:

    • Work is performed while standing, sitting, walking, and/or using office equipment and computers for externed periods of time
    • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
    • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 40 pounds
    • Requires activities including moving machinery, exposure to marked changesin temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust

    Licenses and Other Requirements:

    • Valid North Carolina driver's license
    • Pass a criminal background check (NNC may make exceptions)
