    Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center is pleased to announce an opening for a Manager of Strategic Engagement. We are a community-based, outpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder provider serving individuals and families across the lifespan, with a deep presence in the Harlem and Washington Heights communities for more than 30 years. This role supports organizational coordination and stewardship by assisting leadership with the preparation of materials, organization of engagement activities, scheduling and follow-up, and maintenance of information and records that support effective outreach and relationship management. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with strong writing, research, and coordination skills who are motivated to support mission-driven work in a collaborative, team-based environment.     The Manager of Strategic Engagement is responsible for strengthening the organization’s internal coordination, engagement readiness, and stewardship practices in support of leadership priorities. The role ensures that external engagement efforts are well-prepared, well-documented, and professionally coordinated, enabling leadership to represent the organization consistently and effectively across a range of mission-aligned stakeholders.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Engagement Preparation & Materials • Prepare and maintain executive-ready briefing materials, presentations, and summaries for external engagement • Ensure materials are accurate, current, and aligned with organizational priorities • Organize information so leadership can engage externally with clarity and confidence

    2. Research & Environmental Scanning • Research and synthesize publicly available reports, trends, and priorities relevant to external stakeholders • Prepare concise internal summaries to inform leadership conversations and planning • Maintain an organized library of reference materials and insights

    3. Coordination & Scheduling • Coordinate and schedule meetings and introductory conversations on behalf of the CEO • Manage calendars, confirmations, and preparation logistics related to engagement activity • Ensure follow-up actions are clearly documented and executed

    4. Contact Management & Tracking • Maintain organized records of external contacts, meetings, and engagement history • Develop and manage tracking systems that provide visibility into engagement activity and next steps • Support continuity and institutional knowledge through consistent documentation

    5. Impact & Stewardship Support • Coordinate development of organizational impact materials, including an impact report • Organize program stories and outcomes for use in stewardship and communications • Support consistent, mission-aligned messaging across engagement efforts

    6. Operational Support & Efficiency • Improve internal coordination to reduce duplication of effort and inefficiencies • Support effective use of leadership and consultant time through strong preparation and follow-through • Identify gaps or process improvements related to engagement coordination

    7. Leadership Reporting • Provide periodic written summaries outlining engagement activity, materials readiness, and coordination status • Highlight priorities, progress, and recommended next steps Success Indicators • Leadership consistently uses standardized, high-quality engagement materials • Engagement activity is organized, tracked, and visible • Meetings and follow-ups are coordinated smoothly and professionally • Information and materials are readily available and up to date • External engagement reflects an elevated level of organizational preparedness and stewardship Education and/or Work Experience

    Requirements/Benefits and Salary:

    • Bachelor’s degree required in communications, public administration, nonprofit management, public policy, marketing, journalism, or a related field

    • 2–4 years of relevant experience supporting communications, external engagement, research, or administrative coordination

    • Demonstrated ability to prepare professional materials such as presentations, summaries, briefing documents, or written communications

    • Experience coordinating meetings, calendars, and follow-up with multiple stakeholders

    • Strong writing, organization, and research skills, with attention to detail

    • Ability to manage information, track activities, and support senior leadership priorities

    • Salary range 60-70K per year
