    Description

Are you a natural connector who finds energy in meeting new people and building meaningful relationships? NAMI Eastside is hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator to serve as our primary community steward — connecting volunteers, donors, and community partners to our mental health mission in East King County and beyond.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

    • Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship holder for volunteers — welcoming and supporting people from first inquiry through long-term engagement
    • Build a strong, diverse volunteer pipeline through outreach to community members, schools, corporate groups, faith organizations, and community partners across East King, Snohomish, and Island Counties
    • Facilitate volunteer onboarding, training, scheduling, and placement in collaboration with program staff
    • Coordinate volunteer logistics for events and outreach activities including tabling, resource fairs, our annual gala, and the Youth Mental Health Conference
    • Foster volunteer belonging and long-term retention through consistent recognition and communication
    • Represent NAMI Eastside at community events, coalitions, and partner convenings to build visibility and recruit supporters
    • Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, libraries, civic groups, healthcare providers, and cultural associations
    • Support the Executive Director with donor engagement, event sponsorships, and relationship-centered outreach.
    • Track volunteer and donor activity in CRM; contribute stories and data for reporting, marketing, and grant deliverables

YOU MAY BE A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR THIS POSITION IF YOU ARE…

    • Passionate about mental health equity and serving communities in King, Snohomish, and Island Counties
    • Committed to bringing warmth, cultural humility, and a trauma-informed lens to every relationship
    • Someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people and takes initiative to deepen connections over time
    • Energized by community-facing work and motivated by seeing tangible results
    • Comfortable building structure in ambiguous environments — you see the open road, not the missing map
    • A skilled project manager who can juggle multiple workstreams, relationships, and deadlines without losing the thread
    • Welcoming of people with lived mental health experience, and possibly someone with that experience yourself

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:

    • Demonstrated success in outreach, pipeline development, or community-facing work — we welcome candidates from nonprofit and private sector backgrounds equally (e.g., community organizing, project management, communications, sales, or public-facing service roles)
    • Experience building genuine, welcoming relationships with diverse community members, including those with lived experience of mental health challenges or systemic barriers
    • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to independently manage multiple workstreams and deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with a people-first approach across diverse audiences
    • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
    • Comfort with CRM systems, spreadsheets, and common office and communication tools
    • Willingness to travel regularly throughout King County and surrounding communities; reliable transportation required
    • Availability for some evenings and weekends

    Preferred:

    • Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or outreach in a nonprofit or community-based setting
    • Experience supporting donor stewardship, fundraising, or sponsor relations
    • Experience with volunteer management or CRM platforms (e.g., NeonCRM, Little Green Light, VolunteerHub)
    • Background or education in mental health, social services, education, or adjacent fields
    • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or another language spoken in our community
    • Lived experience with mental health — personally or through family — is welcomed and valued
