    Summary:

    The Safe Horizon Clinical Consultation Program is made possible by a 3-year grant from the New York City Administration for Children’s Services. The primary function of the program is to provide the ACS Staten Island Field Office Child Protective Specialist (CPS) staff with expert clinical support in the areas of Mental Health, Interpersonal Violence, and Substance Use. Specifically, the Safe Horizon Clinical Partners affiliated with program provide direct support to individuals, families, and the CPS Team in the form of training, family engagement, assessments of family strengths and needs, service planning, connection to community resources, and services to address safety and other risks. The Training & Clinical Coaching Coordinator is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering professional development and training initiatives for the Clinical Support Program. This position plays a key role in building the capacity of Clinical Partners and ACS Child Protective Services (CPS) Teams to address the complex intersection of mental health, substance use, and intimate partner violence in the child welfare system.

    Working under the direction of the Senior Clinical Director, the Training & Clinical Coaching Coordinator ensures that all trainings are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, evidence-based, and aligned with ACS policy and Safe Horizon’s mission of supporting families through holistic and compassionate care.

    The Training & Clinical Coaching Coordinator for the ACS Clinical Support Program collaborates with the Senior Director Clinical Support Program and Serving the community of State Island, the position will:

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the CPS Team and the Director to identify the training needs of the Safe Horizon and CPS partners
    • Provide Tech support and coordination
    • Training Development & Delivery
    • Provide needed coaching and consulting to SI CPS team
    • Utilize Conx, Promis , CMS and other data tracking systems needed to support the clinical program
    • Partner with ACS leadership and Clinical Partners to identify borough-specific training needs and priorities informed by case reviews, field trends, and staff feedback.
    • Design, develop, and deliver in-person and virtual training for CPS teams, Clinical Partners, and community providers.
    • Coordinate with ACS management to integrate relevant policies, treatment philosophies, and evidence-based practices into training curricula.
    • Adapt and deliver ACS-developed training materials when required to advance citywide policy or practice initiatives.
    • Maintain a regularly updated training calendar shared across boroughs to maximize attendance and engagement.
    • Ensure that all training materials are accessible, standardized, and stored in shared systems for easy reference.
    • Program Coordination & Evaluation
    • Track training participation, completion, and feedback; prepare monthly and quarterly reports for internal and ACS review.
    • Collaborate with the Research and Evaluation team to evaluate the effectiveness of training content and delivery.
    • Identify gaps in practice knowledge and propose new training modules or refreshers as needed.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with Clinical Partners to ensure cross-disciplinary learning (mental health, IPV, and substance use).
    • Serve as liaison between Safe Horizon’s Training and Learning Department and ACS Workforce Institute.
    • Coordinate guest speakers, facilitators, and cross-agency training collaborations.
    • Represent Safe Horizon at professional meetings, learning collaboratives, and citywide training events.
    • Will hold a race equity lens while developing training materials
    • Provide engaging, interactive training that incorporates the principles of adult learning
    • Partner with CPS, the Project Director, and the Safe Horizon Research & Evaluation team to evaluate the efficacy of and satisfaction with training
    • Will attend case conferences and other meetings as a way to assess the learning needs of the CPS and Safe Horizon Partners
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Education, or a related field.

    Experience:

    Minimum five (3) years of experience designing or delivering training within human services, child welfare, or clinical settings.

    Strong understanding of trauma-informed care.

    Prior experience working with ACS or similar government agencies preferred.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Understanding of child development and of curriculum development for multi-age groups
    • Knowledge and sensitivity to domestic violence and/or child abuse, and/or neglect, and/or sexual abuse
    • Experience developing and providing training
    • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, and Power Point
    • Strong organization skills
