    Description

    The Development Associate plays a vital role in advancing Madison Square Boys & Girls Club’s fundraising and engagement goals. This position bridges development operations, donor relations, and volunteer engagement to strengthen Madison’s capacity to serve thousands of young people across New York City. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to contribute to a mission-driven team.

    Key Responsibilities

    Madison Council Young Professionals Board

    • Conduct one-on-one prospecting meetings with potential Madison Council members;
    • Support research, identification, cultivation, and solicitation of donor prospects;
    • Manage a portfolio of 85+ engaged Council Members and serve as the key contact for the Madison Council leadership team;
    • Lead recruitment events and work closely with Madison’s Board to build pipelines and recruit new Council members.

    Volunteer Engagement

    • Manage comprehensive event calendar and coordinate volunteer recruitment and stewardship activities;
    • Work closely with Program staff to plan and execute volunteer events at Madison’s Clubhouses for Madison’s young professionals Board and corporate partners

    Data Management

    • Process financial gifts from individual, foundation, and corporate donors
    • Collaborate with Finance team to reconcile all gift transactions
    • Send timely donor acknowledgment letters and invoices
    • Maintain data quality and integrity in Madison's donor database (Raiser's Edge)

    Required Qualifications

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with superior attention to detail
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities
    • Experience in fast-paced, mission-focused nonprofit environments
    • Proficiency with donor databases and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Strong research and analytical skills
    • Flexibility to attend evening events and perform physical tasks as needed

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising databases
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Grant writing experience
    • Interest in professional development and growth into advanced fundraising roles

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position does not supervise any employees.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
