    Description

    The Madison Square Boys & Girls Club Foundation seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Director of Individual Giving and Special Events to support our growing development team and engagement goals. This position strengthens Madison’s capacity to serve thousands of young people across New York City. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to contribute to a mission-driven team.

    The Director of Individual Giving and Special Events is an experienced fundraiser and leader adept at forging robust relationships and crafting a dynamic, growth-oriented revenue strategy that adapts constantly. The Director will manage and coach a team of three to lead individual giving, encompassing annual, monthly, and major donors, as well as orchestrating Special Events, which include two signature events and various smaller fundraising events. The ideal candidate will be organized, vibrant, and skilled in balancing long-term strategic planning with immediate operational demands, demonstrating an ability to navigate the organization’s needs, abilities, and resources effectively.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage a portfolio of individual donors, executing engagement plan and providing exceptional stewardship to close renewed and increased gifts.
    • Manage the planning and implementation of the Annual and Planned Giving opportunities; coordinating with the team and crafting solicitations and stewardship communications
    • Manage major and small special events throughout the year
    • Coach team on operations tasks and moves management and stewardship, to help ensure an effective year-round donor journey.
    • Support and collaborate with the Executive Director and Campaign Director in tracking major donor fundraising and stewardship, ensuring appropriate talking points and assets are prepared, calls are scheduled, and emails are sent in a timely manner.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • 5+ years of experience in fundraising or related fields such as marketing, communications, or sales, with a preference for those who have secured five- and six-figure donations
    • Proven skills demonstrating a high level of motivation and initiative, with a keen ability to communicate effectively and craft compelling stories.
    • Can use outstanding grammar and copywriting to create a variety of written materials that support fundraising efforts.
    • Proven leadership skills in managing and mentoring emerging talent, focusing on rapid learning and skill acquisition
    • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic environment, especially during peak fundraising seasons
    • Demonstrated project management expertise, efficiently planning work activities, using time effectively, and responding to management direction
    • Capability to analyze data and metrics to inform goals, strategies, and tactics
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
    • Experience in using Raiser’s Edge, and similar CRM systems preferred.
    • Flexibility to attend evening events and perform physical tasks as needed

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position will supervise up to three employees.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    Requirements/Other

    • Bachelor’s degree required; experience in corporate philanthropic and non-profit sectors a strong plus
    • Candidates must complete criminal clearance (fingerprinting), submit official transcripts, and pass TB screening
