    Title: Grower Network Coordinator

    About Us

    Global Growers Network (GGN) is a nonprofit based in Decatur, GA that partners with people from diverse cultures to grow fresh food for their families and for local marketplaces. We work with 200 growers representing over 20 cultures and languages. We operate a network of community gardens in Decatur and Clarkston, a market farm located at the Indian Creek MARTA station in Stone Mountain, and a 23-acre organic co-farm in Conyers.

    Position Summary and Candidate Vision

    The Grower Network Coordinator will work directly with the diverse members of the Grower Network who are growing at multiple community garden and market farm sites to cultivate relationships, organize workshops and garden activities. The ideal candidate will have lived experience with one or more cultures in the Network, be a strong community organizer, and have experience growing food.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Coordinate grower activities, such as recruitment, workshops, field trips and shared educational resources for the multicultural and multilingual members of the Network.
    • Assist with assessing grower interests and needs to place growers in appropriate membership tracks (independent growers, market growers, community growers).
    • Maintain a database of growers, garden locations, activities and consultations with growers, as well as a resource library that supports training, education and other garden activities.
    • Ensure effective and responsive communication with the network members, including serving as an interpreter/translator. Engage and train interpreters and translators as needed in the vocabulary of growing food and community organizing.
    • Carefully organize and update program implementation plans (activities, deliverables, timeline, budget) based on expected program outcomes, quarterly and annual work plans.
    • Serve as the Interpreter Liaison by providing training and coordination, and maintaining relationships with interpreters. Responsible for scheduling and coordinating payment for interpreters.

    Requirements

    • Written and spoken fluency in at least one of the languages of our grower network, with preference for Nepali, Arabic, Chin, Dari, Farsi, French, Karen, Kirundi, Ki–swahili, Nepali, Pashto, Spanish.
    • Experience in agriculture/food production and community organizing, preferably in a multicultural setting.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between garden and office sites.

    Preferences

    • Sustainable agriculture/food production experience in the Southeast US
    • Experience with program coordination and administration
    • Collaborative project management experience with community partners and stakeholders
    • Demonstrated success working with English language learners and interpreters

    Location and Schedule

    This is a non-exempt position requiring between 20 - 25 hours of work per week, on a pre-approved Tuesday - Saturday schedule along with occasional pre-scheduled evening and weekend work. This position will primarily work from our office at Legacy Park in Decatur.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The hourly rate for this position is $20-24/hour. Benefits include: cell phone stipend ($25/month), and paid holidays proportional to the number of hours worked.
