Ability Dogs of Arizona is hiring a part time instructor for our pet dog training program. This role requires proven technical skill, composure in group settings, and the ability to teach clients with clarity and calm authority. We are looking for someone who has experience in both a group and one-on-one dog training setting. Demonstrated 100% commitment to positive reinforcement training is required.
Responsibilities
- Teach group pet classes for dogs of all ages using positive reinforcement methods
- Conduct occasional one on one sessions
- Maintain clean training records and consistent client communication
- Model safe, humane handling at all times
- Uphold organizational standards for behavior, boundaries, and professionalism
Required Qualifications
- Current CPDT-KA, IAABC CDT, or Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner
- Minimum one year of hands on instruction experience in group or private settings
- Strong mechanical skills with markers, timing, and treat delivery
- Ability to manage a room without stress or reactivity
- Capacity to work evenings or weekends as needed
Preferred but not Required
- Experience in behavior modification
- Experience with service dog task foundations
- Interest in growing into a service dog instructor role with additional training and supervision
Compensation
- Part-time hourly role, rate based on experience. Work occurs in person at our Tucson facility.
