    Position Summary:

    CARE is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Director of Development & Strategic Growth to lead fundraising, donor engagement, board relationships, and growth strategies to help us reach our bold goal of raising $2 million annually by 2030 in support of cancer research. This position is ideal for a driven fundraising and community engagement professional who can grow into an Executive Director role as CARE continues to expand and meet development goals.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Fundraising Strategy & Donor Development

    • Develop and implement a multi-channel fundraising strategy to grow CARE’s annual revenue to $2 million by 2030.
    • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at all levels, and corporate sponsors, with a focus on major and recurring gifts to build long-term loyalty and engagement .
    • Identify and secure new sources of individual and corporate support.

    Grant Writing & Institutional Giving

    • Research and submit grant opportunities aligned with CARE’s mission and goals that are compelling to foundations, corporations, and government entities.
    • Meet all reporting requirements, and performance metrics for grants.

    Event Planning & Implementation

    • Plan and execute CARE’s signature fundraising events, including the annual Golf Tournament, Bash, Procurement, Mountain Music Experience, and Donor receptions.
    • Manage all aspects of event production including, volunteer management, sponsorships, auctions, raffles, logistics, vendor relations, and guest experience.
    • Develop creative concepts to elevate event impact and participation and iterate on feedback to make each event better.

    Board Management & Leadership Development

    • Collaborate with the Board regularly and utilize their expertise on campaign design and strategic priorities
    • Collaborate with the Board on a plan to transition to Executive Director
    • Collaborate with the Desert Mountain Club leadership and community influencers.

    Marketing & Communications

    • Collaborate with CARE & Club Marketing Director on digital fundraising campaigns, donor appeals, newsletters, and social media strategy with compelling communication.
    • Serve as a public representative and spokesperson for CARE in the community and at events.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred; focus on nonprofit management, business, or communications desired.
    • Minimum 3 years of nonprofit fundraising experience with demonstrated success in donor development and grant writing.
    • Proven experience planning and executing high-impact fundraising events.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in all formats; persuasive and donor-focused.
    • Familiarity with fundraising and donor management systems.
