    Description

Arriba is seeking a (part-time, contract) Bilingual Outreach Associate to support our 2026 Power Up Community Energy programs. In this role, you’ll help plan and deliver engaging outreach events and communications to help our community members understand their home energy options, reduce energy costs, and take advantage of programs and services to make homes more comfortable and resilient.

The ideal Outreach Associate is bilingual/bicultural, with a strong proficiency in conversational and written Spanish and English. You are comfortable with public speaking and initiating conversations with people at festivals, farmers markets, workshops, and other community events. You have good computer skills, can navigate websites and online forms, and are familiar with using spreadsheets, documents, and simple databases.

You may have existing ties to the unincorporated South Coast area through current or prior residency or work experience. Above all, you are excited to help build up a dynamic South Coast where connected communities, resilient infrastructure, and a robust, diversified economy create lasting prosperity for all.

In this role, you’ll help Arriba’s Executive Director and Energy Program Manager:

    • Conduct in-person outreach to provide education about energy resiliency, energy rate programs, and home upgrade discounts at community festivals, pop-up events, and neighborhood workshops
    • Assist the program manager at dedicated "office hours" for customers who need extra assistance to understand bills or to enroll in programs due to language or technology access barriers
    • Help translate and edit program materials including podcast scripts, newsletter articles, web content, invitations, reports, event materials, etc from English to conversational Spanish
    • Record Spanish audio versions of announcements and program information
    • Help support Arriba’s Youth Energy Ambassadors with in-person and digital outreach to school families and faculty

No prior experience with energy programs is necessary. Training will be provided in both English and Spanish. Applicants should have flexibility to work evenings and weekends at least once a month, and attend some meetings related to our partners’ energy program offerings and initiatives during normal working hours.

About the position: This is a 12-month contract/freelance position, beginning January 20, 2026, for up to 20 hours/month, not to exceed 10 hours in any week. Outreach work will take place in Pescadero, Loma Mar, La Honda, and San Gregorio. Administrative and communication tasks related to outreach can be performed remotely. Working hours and days will vary and will be mutually agreed upon at least 30 days in advance.

About Arriba South Coast: Established in 2021, Arriba South Coast is a community-based non-profit exclusively serving Pescadero, Loma Mar, La Honda, and San Gregorio. Working with local experts, public agencies, and trusted partners, Arriba addresses issues such as climate adaptation, affordable and reliable energy, access to clean water, community development, and local economic strength within the unique context of our rural unincorporated communities.
