    Description

    Position Overview

The SEED Foundation seeks a Part-Time Temporary College Success Advisor to serve on the front line of our college transition and success efforts. This role is a vital part of the College Transition & Success (CTS) team who is working to advance SEED’s mission by helping students navigate the transition from high school through college and/or other post-secondary pathways and beyond.

This position is part-time (20–25 hours per week) and requires the advisor to be based in the Washington, DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia area. This is not a remote role and requires regular travel to SEED school campuses and student-facing events in MD and DC. To support school-based college transition and financial aid advising (for high school seniors and families), the advisor will spend the bulk of their time at The SEED School of Maryland (located in Baltimore, MD). Additionally, when directly supporting SEED graduates, the advisor will travel to meet with them at their respective college campuses or other area locations and engage with them virtually when appropriate.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Advising and Program Support (High School Seniors and Graduates)

    • Lead college transition and financial aid advising sessions (SEED high school seniors and families).
    • Maintain regular contact with key staff at SEED schools to ensure alignment in student support as seniors transition from SEED.
    • Support CTS-led college success training sessions for SEED staff.
    • Conduct regular advising sessions focused on financial aid, academics, and social adjustment to postsecondary life (SEED graduates).
    • Visit SEED graduates at their respective campuses or other area locations.
    • Assist SEED graduates with postsecondary transferring, entry/re-entry, and/or access to community-based resources.
    • Maintain consistent communication with graduates via phone, email, text, and social media.
    • Partner with school-based college counseling staff and the CTS team on programming.

    School Collaboration & Programming

    • Partner with school-based college counseling staff on programming and transition planning.
    • Lead or co-lead college transition advising for SEED high school seniors.
    • Support and lead college success training sessions for SEED staff across the network.
    • Maintain regular contact with key staff at SEED schools to ensure alignment in student support.

    Data Tracking & Advising Insights

    • Maintain accurate advising notes and ensure all student data is current and complete by using Use CoPilot™ (a Salesforce™-based student information system, to manage caseload data).
    • Use insights from data to inform student support strategies.
    • Track student outcomes and engagement consistently.
