WHO WE ARE
The Humane League (THL) is a global nonprofit ending the abuse of animals raised for food. THL fosters a high-energy culture of teamwork and mission-driven problem solving, and we have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. Over the past few years, we’ve grown to a staff of 100+ talented individuals dispersed around the world. At THL, how animals are treated in the food system is at the forefront of our everyday work. We welcome all mission-aligned candidates to apply, no matter where you are in your journey to end the abuse of animals raised for food.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY
The Humane League is seeking a tenacious, self-motivated, and organized individual who is passionate about our mission and has the drive to create progressive change for millions of farmed animals. The Data & Insights Lead is part of THL’s Research & Insights department and will be responsible for building out data to guide our corporate campaign and alliance strategies. As an applied researcher, you will create and refine structures and processes that will enable the entire team to effectively find, store, and evaluate corporate and industry data.
The primary focus of this position is to optimize THL’s data-driven insights and processes, develop and organize the structure of our information storage, and lead the fulfillment of research needs to guide our corporate campaign and alliance work. This position requires extensive research and close collaboration with internal colleagues, members of the Open Wing Alliance (our global coalition of animal protection groups), and other organizations to inform strategic decisions for animals.
While working autonomously is an important part of this role, strong collaboration and communication skills will also be paramount to your success. You will need to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment, and you must have the organizational skills needed to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently. In the first 90 days, success will include building strong contextual understanding of THL and OWA operations, independently initiating or owning a research project, and delivering clear, actionable recommendations based on your findings. Over time, you will establish yourself as a trusted resource and strategic thought partner across teams. This position reports to the Research & Insights Manager.
This is a full-time, remote position. We are only able to consider applicants who reside in either the Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czechia, Denmark, Ecuador, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and the United Kingdom and who possess work authorization in the country in which they reside. To the extent permitted by law, in order to enable collaboration with other global team members, you may be required to work occasional hours outside of 9am - 5pm, depending on your time zone. This position requires domestic and international travel, equivalent to 2 or more trips per year.

At The Humane League, we believe in maintaining a fair and nondiscriminatory work environment. As part of our commitment to transparency, we have implemented a job architecture framework, which levels all of our roles according to size and complexity, as well as a compensation step system, which allows us to determine fair salaries for all. We also look at market data for each country that we operate in, to allow us to create specific salary bands per country. This work is time consuming and involves a cost to THL. Therefore, when expanding into a country for the first time, we only undertake this work towards the end of the recruitment process, when we know where our ideal candidate is based. In addition, we have adopted a no negotiation policy for salaries. To determine a job's level, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including a job's size and complexity, required experience, knowledge, and/or skills, internal comparability, and market data. Candidates whose experience places them at step 5 or above of their job level within our compensation structure will be awarded a “Senior” title designation. These practices are aligned with our organizational values and will help us ensure we maintain clear, consistent, and transparent HR processes.
