    Position Summary

NRWC is seeking a Development & Communications Manager to lead core

communications and development functions that expand visibility, deepen network

This is a part-time remote staff position (approximately 10–25 hours per week) that will work

    Key Responsibilities

    Development

    • Develop an annual grant writing cycle and funder engagement strategy aligned

with NRWC’s mission and operating calendar.

    • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities, prioritizing unrestricted and

    capacity-building sources.

    • Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, and

    supporting materials.

    • Create and maintain a funder database, grant pipeline, and submission/reporting

    calendar.

    • Support the President & CEO in prospecting and developing funder relationships.
    • Support the preparation of funder reports, updates, and stewardship

    communications.

    • Develop boilerplate language, case statements, and messaging frameworks that

align with NRWC’s theory of change.

    • Explore feasibility of non-traditional forms of funding, like donor advisory funds

and other sources or forms of funding.

    • Identify sponsorship, partnership, or philanthropic opportunities that strengthen

    NRWC’s sustainability.

    • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Marketing & Communications

    • Refine NRWC’s messaging, value proposition, and theory of change in

    collaboration with leadership.

    • Develop and execute a content and communications strategy aligned with

    NRWC’s annual operating cycle.

    • Produce or coordinate weekly newsletters, announcements, blog posts, and social

media content to engage NRWC’s national network.

    • Collaborate with graphic designing consultant to design and distribute marketing

materials for NRWC’s certification, training, and other programs.

    • Ensure consistent branding, storytelling, and visual identity across all platforms

    and publications.

    • Work in collaboration with the Operations Manager to track and analyze

engagement metrics (email, website, social media) to assess growth and impact.

    • Support development of case studies, impact stories, success profiles, and field

resources that elevate NRWC’s programs and partners.

    • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit communications, development, grant

    writing, or similar roles.

    • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
    • Strong project management skills, with an ability to manage multiple deadlines.
    • Experience producing digital content (email newsletters, social media, marketing

    collateral).

    • Ability to translate program outcomes and data into compelling narratives.
    • Commitment to NRWC’s mission and to advancing equitable employment for

    justice-impacted job seekers.

    • Knowledge of reentry or workforce development fields is preferred but not

    required.

    • Experience with CRM, email marketing platforms, social media scheduling, or

grant tracking tools is a plus.

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a small, fast-moving, entrepreneurial

    environment.

    • Formal education or training in marketing, communications and/or development

    is preferred.

    Compensation & Schedule

    • Part-time staff position (10–25 hours/week).
    • Salary range determined by experience and NRWC’s compensation structure.
    • Flexible scheduling with some core hours for team collaboration.
    • Periodic travel out of state for meetings, events, training, etc.
    • Occasionally work on nights and weekends.
    • Opportunity for expanded hours and role growth as NRWC expands.
