    Capital IDEA is an Austin-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping working adults overcome poverty and transition into living-wage careers through education. In partnership with Austin Community College, Temple College, and others, we offer a range of services designed to help low-income adult students succeed in school and secure high-paying, in-demand jobs. Since our founding in 1998, more than 2,400 Central Texans have completed the program, helping to move their families out of poverty.

    ABOUT THE POSITION: PROGRAM LEAD

    Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Lead is responsible for overseeing a subset of the Career Navigation team. This role provides strategic team leadership, coordination, and individual staff development, while overseeing the overall metrics and goals of the team. This role ensures the timely execution of responsibilities and models behaviors aligned with the organization’s core values, ultimately contributing to important program outcomes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Team Leadership & Staff Development

    • Lead a team of professional and front-line staff focused on Career Navigation.
    • Coach, advise, and supervise team members to support their professional growth.
    • Prepare staff evaluations and provide regular feedback.
    • Act as a backup for the Program Director as needed.

    Program Oversight

    • Guide students in course planning, registration, and progress monitoring throughout training.
    • Maintain high program outcomes and uphold professional standards.
    • Problem-solve student concerns and support their success.

    Operations & Compliance

    • Review and verify documentation related to staff and students.
    • Ensure data accuracy and quality control within the program database.
    • Submit required reports and documentation by assigned deadlines.
    • Support organizational strategic initiatives and goals.

    Representation & Values

    • Represent the organization to external stakeholders and the public.
    • Model exceptional behaviors aligned with the organization’s core values.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience preferred, especially with virtual and off-site teams.
    • At least three years of experience working with client or program databases, including reporting and tracking metrics.
    • Bachelor’s degree required (management or social work preferred). Two years of relevant experience may substitute for one year of post-secondary education.

    PREFERRED SKILLS

    • Experience in education or direct service programs is a plus.
    • Being bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful.
    • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite, TEAMS, and SharePoint is desired.

    • High professional standards and dedication to the organization’s mission, staff, and participants.
    • Excellent customer service and strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Attention to detail, including the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
    • Ability to handle complex and confidential information.

    WORK REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS

    • Capital IDEA operates during regular business hours: Monday to Friday, 8 am- 5 pm; however, this position requires some evenings and weekends.
