The Community Justice Project (“CJP”) is a statewide, unrestricted legal aid program that is part of Pennsylvania’s Legal Aid Network. CJP conducts broad advocacy in all forms and subject areas, which includes civil rights, employment, housing, consumer, immigration, and public benefits work. CJP’s Reading, PA office serves as the hub for CJP’s immigration practice.

    Job Description:

CJP is seeking to hire a bilingual (English and Spanish-speaking) paralegal to assist with CJP’s immigration caseload. The paralegal will assist in conducting intakes, communicating with clients, organizing client files, and other legal assistant work under attorney supervision.

    Job Requirements:

The Bilingual Immigration Paralegal must have at least an associate degree and be fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Strong organizational and communications skills and a commitment to CJP’s low-income client community are also important. Demonstrated commitment to immigration work is preferred. Prior paralegal experience is not necessary.

The Bilingual Immigration Paralegal will be a non-exempt employee. The starting, entry-level compensation for employees at the Paralegal I level is $18.74/hour, though candidates will be assessed for the possibility of starting at the Paralegal II level, and candidates beginning at the Paralegal I level will have the opportunity to move to Paralegal II after passing the course required for accredited representatives. In addition, full time employees are eligible for CJP’s benefits package, including health insurance, dental and vision insurance, retirement contributions, and paid parental leave.
