JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Workforce Development Manager, the Workforce Support Coordinator advances BeLit’s workforce and career readiness initiatives across multiple pathways, including pre-apprenticeship, skilled trades, and other high-demand sectors.
This hybrid role blends direct student support with workforce alignment and employer engagement. The Coordinator provides career counseling, job readiness coaching, and case management while ensuring learners are prepared to transition successfully into advance training programs, apprenticeships, and employment.
This role supports all workforce programs; familiarity with high-demand sectors such as construction, green energy, or infrastructure career tracks is strongly preferred.
This direct service position works closely with the workforce team, instructors, staff, and referral partners to support program participants. Responsibilities include facilitating presentations and workshops, onboarding participants, and providing ongoing outreach and support to current participants and program alumni. The role requires a flexible schedule, including daytime and evening availability, with occasional weekend work and travel to partner sites and community events.
Student & Graduate Workforce Support
- Facilitate workshops on career exploration, resume development, interviewing skills (including the STAR method), job applications, and professional communication, and provide individualized support to help participants successfully transition into advanced training programs, apprenticeships, and employment.
- Assess participant readiness for skilled trades and apprenticeship environments, including reliability, safety awareness, and workplace expectations.
- Deliver ongoing follow-up and support program graduates to promote job retention and career advancement.
Workforce & Employer Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers, unions, PA CareerLink®, and community partners.
- Coordinate employer presentations, hiring events, and sector-specific exposure opportunities.
- Stay informed about local hiring trends, workforce board initiatives, and industry demand.
- Ensure programming reflects real employer expectations and workplace standards.
Case Management & Data
- Document student eligibility, progress, placements, and employer engagement using Salesforce and Office 365.
- Support grant reporting and workforce proposals through accurate data and impact storytelling.
- Follow-up on barrier reduction referrals to social services, PA CareerLink® and other community partner resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Associate’s degree or 4+ years relevant experience.
- 2+ years' experience advising, coaching, recruiting, or placing adults into employment or advanced job training programs.
- Experience working with adults from under-served communities toward employment goals.
- Experience facilitating workshops or group instruction.
Strongly Preferred:
- Experience supporting workforce programs in construction, green jobs, infrastructure, utility maintenance, or other high-demand skilled trades sectors.
- Experience working directly with advanced training programs, employers, or apprenticeship programs.
- Familiarity with job readiness standards for physically demanding or safety-sensitive work environments.
Not a Fit:
Applicants whose experience is limited to classroom-based GED or ESL instruction without workforce placement, employer engagement, or sector-based alignment are unlikely to be competitive for this role.

- Strong rapport-building skills with adults from diverse backgrounds and adult learners.
- Ability to motivate individuals toward physically demanding, safety-sensitive career pathways.
- Comfort engaging employers and workforce partners.
- Strong documentation and data tracking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Full-time position with a primarily onsite schedule and some hybrid/remote flexibility.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- Weekly travel between Beyond Literacy and partner program sites is expected.
Physical Demands:
- Primarily office-based work requiring prolonged use of computers, phones, and other standard office equipment.
- Occasional travel to partner sites and community events may involve walking short distances, standing for presentations, or carrying light materials.
