    Description

    About the Job

Are you passionate about the potential of data, analytics/AI, geospatial technologies, and digital innovation to drive environmental and social impact? We are looking for a skilled and collaborative Technology Officer to help advance FSC’s initiatives—including Ecosystem Services, Outcome Orientation and System Integrity — through the design and implementation of GIS, data, and digital product solutions. The Technology Officer plays a critical role in identifying, screening, and deploying technologies that enable Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) programs to address critical marketplace needs and scale effectively. This position will support technical alignment with FSC’s normative standards and frameworks, while maintaining business alignment with FSC’s regional and international teams.

Operating within a matrixed structure, the Technology Officer collaborates closely with leadership at FSC International – working especially closely with the offices of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Senior Director of Markets, and other Units as needed. The position reports to the Deputy Executive Director of FSC I&P ensuring coordination in the matrixed structure. This role also engages key technology partners and donors in support of FSC’s mission to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests.

About FSC and FSC Investments & Partnerships

In the early 1990s, an international group of leaders in business, human rights, and the environment came together to develop standards for managing forests responsibly. These visionaries established the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) in response to the many threats facing the world’s forests.

FSC certification assures that products sourced from forests have been responsibly managed according to a robust set of environmental and social standards. While FSC is best known for forest certification, it is also pioneering new systems for ecosystem services and outcome-based approaches to sustainability.

FSC Investments & Partnerships (I&P) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2016 to amplify responsible forest management and innovation. FSC I&P collaborates with FSC offices around the world and the International Secretariat in Bonn, Germany, to deliver on this shared mission.
