    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for our Florida and New Jersey regions and can be based in either of those regions or New York City. The Policy Analyst must have political experience as well as an understanding of the New York legislative process and government entities. Experience should include understanding government budgets, familiarity with political agencies and personnel, analyzing and interpreting law and regulations, and presenting research in a clear and concise manner. This position requires a solid understanding of the economic implications of legislation and regulatory practices combined with a knowledge of healthcare policy on federal and state levels. Policy analysts work in conjunction with organizers, members and labor leaders on legislative, organizing and contract campaign projects.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Draft, develop and analyze proposed health care legislation
    • Analyze and prepare recommendations regarding budgets
    • Write summaries of health care issues
    • Analyze financial data from healthcare institutions and report to leadership
    • Monitor legislative and healthcare issues
    • Attend government or policy-related meetings and events as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum BA degree, MA degree strongly preferred, in Healthcare Policy, Political Science, Public Administration, Law or other related area
    • Experience with government agencies and/or legislative processes
    • Computer skills with database and spreadsheet programs and on-line research are necessary as is experience with Word, Access, and Excel
    • Excellent writing skills and interpersonal skills are essential
    • Must demonstrate ability to work independently and be willing to work flexible hours
    • Travel as needed
